Get the puke bucket ready for Vaaks this summer, that’s all I am going to say…

Illinois may look for a backup 4. Tough to find someone who wants to backup Mirk, but they’re looking.
What I took from this is Mirk being here.

I know he’s more of a guard, but with his size and rebounding is this something Morillo could help with if the staff doesn’t love their options? Just thinking there may be a lot of mouths to feed next year

Nope… definitely #2 in 1984-85. We were coming off a B1G championship and near Final Four appearance, with everyone but Quinn Richardson back and with Anthony Welch returning from injury. Georgetown with Patrick Ewing was #1.

In 1988-89, we had to work our way up the ranks, eventually becoming #1 during a mid-conference game against Georgia Tech.
Basketball Times even had us #1

Just need someone to eat minutes, fouls, can rebound average or better, and play d well. Offense optional.

If Ty stays, would it be possible for him to play there?

Or a small ball lineup with Davis at the 4?

That will be an incredibly tough find. Having someone come in with 100% knowledge that you're backing up, with minimal minutes available, would be a tough sell. Part of the pitch is that you're foul trouble or an injury away from starting.

Guessing that you'd have to go low major and try to find some size, with athleticism, that you can take a flier on? Depth in the frontcourt does need to be addressed.

It's positional situations like this when you think about how valuable Ben was. His willingness to go in and do everything possible, at multiple positions, to provide quality minutes, even when out of position....very tough to find.

I am not an X/O's guy, but can Ty play the 4?

He could for sure, it would just look different than what we've been doing. The most natural thing to do is get another shooter to keep the offense humming, and figure it out defensively.

That being said... A lineup of Big Z, Ty, and pick whatever 3 guards you want would be fun to watch. Could switch 1-4 with Z as the rim protector and offensively you can really run.

Tempo is going to be the thing to watch for me. Don't forget we started the season trying to play pretty fast. Got slower and slower as the season went along. But I do think Brad's natural mindset is to attack and be aggressive. Wouldn't be surprised if we try to pick up the tempo again, but let's see how the roster finishes up first.

At what point does Brad give Blackwell the Illini's best and final offer....or has he already????
If we have as good of a relationship with him as some people are saying..... he'll come back with what it will take because he got offer "$x". At that point, you can either swing it or you can't. If it's close, they'll find the dollars and if it's wild...move on.

It's all about the relationship. If it's mediocre or luke warm...you probably won't get a "last look".
