Unfortunately, Murakami is falling prey to being a big, strong guy who can really move and that's.....the dreaded pulled hamstring. Chicago baseball has seen our share of that over the years. Soler, Robert, Jimenez, Suzuki(before he got leaner), etc. What worries me, for him, is that the weather was absolutely perfect. It didn't take much to get lathered up. To pull a muscle sprinting to first base.....it's a movie we've seen before. They're saying a couple of weeks. We'll see.

I went to the Cubs/Sox game and had tickets 12 rows off the field. He is a shockingly big guy....like, blocking TE in the NFL big.

Well the “good news” is we get to see what Sox have in Jacob Gonzalez. Not considered one of their top prospects at the start of the season (think he was ranked in mid 20s) and really a bit of a disappointing first round pick, he has really turned it on so far this year and tapped into his power potential. Was playing primarily SS this year, but he has also played a big at 1B and 2B.

Tomorrow the White Sox play in Philadelphia – a place where they used to play a lot of games every season (prior to 1955).

And since we are in June of 2026... we ask... what did the Sox do in June the final year they played lots of regular games in Philadelphia (before the Athletics moved to Kansas City)?

It was 1954. In Philly...

June 8 – the Sox beat Philadelphia 9 to 3 giving the Sox a season record of 34-16.
June 9 - the Sox beat Philadelphia 9 to 4 giving the Sox a season record of 35-16.

The Sox ended up finishing in Third Place that season with a respectable record of 94 wins. Sox stars on that team were Minnie Minoso, Sherm Lollar, Chico Carrasquel, Jim Rivera, Billy Pierce and Virgil Trucks.

It’s nice to play in Philly - a place where a Sox slugger named Dick Allen used to play. And some of Allen’s blasts from 35th Street are still orbiting our Earth and passing over Rate Field and Philly even now when you look close.

I'm old enough to remember Minnie, Sherman, Jungle Jim, and Billy. Chico and Virgil were a little before my time. Chico was one of my brother's favorite players, though.

I have a 1st cousin who is 1 year older than me and he grew up in Chicago South Side.......my Aunt and Uncle would send him down to McLeansboro ( where I grew up ) every summer during the school shutdowns and he was a die hard chisox fan.....his favorite player was Mike Hershburger , a nondescript outfielder who my cousin liked because he hustled all the time.....I started liking the chisox also and Luis Aparicio was my fav as he played SS which was my position when I wasn't pitching......we had some monumental whiffle ball games back then......ah , memories are golden ...........they really really are.......I am now watching some chisox games....they are very entertaining.............

These names are magic to anyone who knows Sox history. They are some that represent the greatest era the Sox ever had from 1951 through 1967. The South Side was rocking and even the mighty Yankees of that era had to watch their step.

1967 was probably one of the biggest disappointments for me as a sports fan. In the lead for the pennant with a week to go and they lose out against bottom dwellers.
