St Louis Cardinals 2026

Nootbaars brain fart on that fly ball out that Bregman scored from second base on did it for me.......he probably leads the league in strikeouts caught looking as his batting eye sucks...............send him somewhere else and bring up Baez....Baez can't strike out more than Noot.....even if he does , 31 HR's this year is more than Noot's whole career..................
Lol your obsession with Noot...

Noot's strikeout rate is 22% right now (and he has the highest walk rate on the team which seems to be relevant to "batting eye"). His career strikeout rate is 20.4%.

Baez already has 125 strikeouts in AAA this season. That's a 30% strikeout rate against AAA pitching. Pretty close to where Gorman was before he was promoted to the MLB.

It's almost a guarantee that Baez will strike out more than Noot.

If Goodman for the Rockies is commanding a legit top 15 ish prospect

I think you have to trade Herrera.
trading Herrera would be trading from a strength or surplus , BUT , is the Cardinals offense strong enough to move him now ???.......I would think Pages will be moved but won't get much in return .......Herrera needs to stop catching as he can't throw well enough , he's like zero for 53 right now .......JMHO...............

No. It’s not good enough. It’ll struggle the remainder of the year.

It’s great he gets on base. And that’s why he’s valuable. But for a really good team, with mid-power, I don’t think he’s who I’d pick to be batting second.

Personally, I do find him and jj when they’re rolling, refreshing in that they don’t strikeout a ton. But I’m just not sure I see the long term play for him for an extension given the catching depth. And the amount of DH like players they’ve drafted recently here.

EDIT: This is assuming the trade would be a HAUL tho. Something similar to the Goodman rumors.

fair enough.......what I've read is it's doubtful they will trade Goodman.........Herrera has his flaws for sure as his arm is a weakness ........R. Rodriguez is the catcher the Cardinals view as the future there..........Bernal is a keeper also........Herrera either needs to DH or learn an outfield position to stay a Cardinal.......but I haven't read any articles stating he is being discussed as a trade chip........Nootbaar is in EVERY trade rumor article....but he does have that 20.4 % walk rate going for him..............lol...............

Yeah, probably (though not a guarantee - some guys just can't catch up to MLB pitching). Cubs had a guy named Jake Fox who would mash AAA pitching, then get called up to the majors and do nothing. Then get sent down and mash AAA pitching again. His MLB career amounted to 20 homers over four seasons. Another guy is Mike Hessman. Hit 493 career homers in the minor leagues. Just 14 career major league homers.

To be clear, I like Baez and am hopeful he will be great. But there are no guarantees for a guy who hasn't stepped up to the plate in an MLB setting. And even if the is everything we hope he is, we still need other outfielders. We lack depth in that department so trading a guy like Noot just to get rid of his slightly above average (which is statistically what he is whether you like it or not) outfielder, not to get a return, but just to get rid of him, makes zero sense.

Trust me buddy, plenty of the same going the other way. I don't expect everyone to agree with my posts but I at least hope they make for interesting discussion, and enjoy when others come up with thoughtful counter-arguments. At a minimum, I strive for coherency. Of course I do have my shortcomings, I'll admit it. I get drawn into inane debates too easily when I should just let go. And I could never pull off the yeomanlike dedication required to post the same five gifs thousands of times, day after day, year after year. Areas of growth to work on, for sure.

I think they'd be foolish not to listen on both Pages and Ivan. I think we'd get more than we think for him. I'd venture a guess he is a top 3rd defensive catcher. That holds value. Ivan can hit, but can he hit enough on this team to be the DH? That's a negative for me. Plug him in a good line up similar to the Yankees, and he'd thrive.

Are there any untouchables on the current 26 man roster....
I would think Wetherholt and Walker , especially after he won the Home Run Derby and all that PR brought to the Cardinal doorstep.........bro...................

No reason to trade somebody young 1-3 years in MLB for minor league lottery ticket

Must go - Gorman - admit it he cant hit MLB pitching. Trade him or cut him

Trade since you lose them next year anyway - Dusty, Jo Jo (appendix) , Ryne (unless you want to pay him $6M next year, ankle injury)

Trade because they are due to regress Riley (31 year old 26 saves, journeyman having career year)

Trade if you get a great offer - Ivan (rubber arm catcher, DH, unless you want him at first base), Alec (weak batting against lefties, 2 more years control)
