WMU plays again at Michigan in 2029. The least that should be done is make that a home game for the Broncos.
If he were to Michael Vick it 50 rows into the stands, the clock would run until the moment it knocks the phone from the hands of the oblivious trust fund baby is in its path.
Also, there are no fractional seconds in football. 15:00 means there are fifteen minutes left or a little less. 0:00 means there are zero seconds left or slightly less (as in, zero). Like your microwave, when it hits zero, it's done. When time is adjusted, you'll get the whole second because there's no way to do otherwise, but no more.
This is true on Friday nights, too. If you see a decimal point or hear a horn, someone's turned on a practice option (etiquette dictates that we refer to this as 'basketball mode') and it's wrong.
The fix is in, guys. And nothing will be done to rectify that absolute joke of an ending.

You're missing that the B1G has a vested interest in Michigan winning and the game is referreed by B1G refs. This was a monumental screw up that does more damage to the game than Lane Kiffin being some weird little villain, imo.
Some will argue "oh there's some special clock that tells the actual time." Ok... why don't any of us get to actually see it?

Of course, if the call is incorrect, I want the call to be overturned. I’m just trying to understand what the B1G is claiming. It sounds like they’re saying the stadium clock and the game clock show two different things. They're off by a fraction of a second. So on TV, the game was over, but in the stadium, there was still one second left. I wonder how common that is? And why isn’t the game clock on tv synced to the stadium clock?

Probably the worst look for the big ten conference in my life time. 1. Phantom second added. 2. Michigan fans storming the field after their team cheated against a MAC school at home. 3. Big ten football twitter ignoring the B.S. call and acting like Michigan pulled off a miracle, giving them unwarranted flowers at a cringy level. Just an embarrassing look for our conference.
If the broadcast clock wasn’t synced up with the actual game clock, then the question should be why it was not. Somebody didn’t do their job right, even if the call is somehow correct.

I didn’t turn on the game until after the !!!! show. Is it true the refs deliberately put 9 seconds on the clock the play before? If so that means, that the clock should be 9.0 seconds.
You’ll see the NBC clock instantly go from 0:09 to 0:08 when the ball is snapped. This leads me to believe the NBC clock is truncating the decimal, and when it shows 0:00 it’s actually 0:00.9
If the refs didn’t deliberately set the clock to 9.0 the play before then the only other way we’d have that instant transition from 0:09 to 0:08 when the ball is snapped is if the tv clock rounded per standard rounding rules, with the clock starting at 0:08.5 but shown as 0:09 on TV. This scenario would technically mean 0.4 seconds remained when the TV clock read 0:00.
I hate to say it but I think technically BIG got this right. To corroborate running my phone stopwatch against the video and game clock seems to agree the play was less than 9 seconds but obviously that method has a lot of uncertainty.
This is an example of when sport clocks are accumulating they should always round down, and when counting down should always round up.
Edit: if you’re watching the video @dsg linked then the PGM view is good for TV clock, and ISO Cam 4 good for timing the play with a stopwatch or general viewing.
Edit 2: I’m curious how NBC shows the 1st second tick off at the start of the quarter but can’t find a video online.

That clock isn’t one that’s part of the score bug animation. That sure looks like a stadium clock. And the conference’s explanation is not terribly helpful.
When you factor this into the litany of other times Michigan has objectively been the beneficiary of suspect at best officiating over the years, it’s hard to reach any other conclusion than the conference understands Michigan’s visibility and ensures they get the benefit of the doubt no matter what.
My sleep the week of our 2022 Michigan loss, was genuinely one of the worst of my life.
