Week 6 Games

NIL and the portal have leveled the playing field to such a degree that scanning the full day's matchups at 8 am, nothing jumps out as a marquee game any longer. Traditional powers are weakened, nobodies are beating somebodies regularly. Sounds good theoretically but in practice, idk. Somebody v somebody often turns out to be a lousy game. GA v 'Bama no longer has the cachet it had a few years ago. It's more like roulette. Strange times. Has to be driving the tv people nuts.

Idk its been a game so far as Bama vs Georgia and both teams could win it all. I'd say thats still cachet and the sad truth from a big ten fan best game ive watched this weekend so far

You must not have seen Illinois' game (Homer) or at least the Indiana-Nebraska game.

Among other frustrations, Illinois can’t get the schedule luck down.

All of a sudden Purdue is competent, UW happens to be a mess this year. UCLA all of a sudden is great, but terrible last year.

We get OSU in back to back years, but don’t get Michigan for either those years.

Probably sour grapes.

You could also say the Illini are getting Oregon in a down year at home. Too bad Illinois is in a down year too.

How hot is Fleck’s seat?
Doubtful it is warm at all. I then looked at their remaining games...yikes (Iowa, @IU, UCLA, @Penn State, NW, and @Wisconsin). That is a brutal stretch, and they may not even make a bowl after starting 4-1 (and their wins over Washington and Michigan are likely not as impressive as it initially seemed).

Going to be a tough row for that team.

What if Purdue is meh instead of bad?
I knew they would be a tough out after watching their performance in Pasadena. It was a loss, but you could see the year over year improvement. I think people discounted them after playing Notre Dame, which was a mistake.

I actually would not be surprised if they got to 5 or 6 wins...their next 3 games vs Washington, @Penn State, and Maryland are all very winnable.

That was my point. Their schedule going out is brutal. They may end up at best 5-7. They could easily lose out as well. But they may be satisfied with going 8-5 on average like they have done over the past two years. I doubt he can get them back up to the 11-2 as hard as the conference now is. But you never know.
