In an odd way this Illini defense reminds me a bit of the elite defenses Iowa has had with Ferentz and Parker. Don't give up a lot of big plays, keep everything in front of you, make the offense earn every yard, and wait for them to make a mistake (which we still need to work on fully capitalizing on).
It's past time for NIL dollars to start flowing to this program! Before we lose the best coach since Ray Eliott, please give this guy the talent he deserves on both sides of the ball!

Hey, if we shock the world and beat UCLA next week, things get interesting, very very interesting. We would have somehow some way played ourselves back into the playoff discussion as absolutely ludicrous as that sounds based on where we were 4weeks ago. Let’s get crazy. So proud of what our boys and Bret have done these past few weeks and tonight. Just fantastic stuff. Truly fantastic.

When I consider:
--This team was 2-3 after losing to Purdue
--The defense was a mess and couldn't even get the right number of players on the field
--Then they lose their starting QB... and turn to a freshman
--The schedule looked ominous with Oregon, Nebraska, at UCLA, Iowa and at a shockingly good NW team...5-7 was not only possible, but maybe likely considering they looked to be underdogs in all of their final 5 games
All I can say is...bring on Notre Dame!
