On the other hand, this is the stuff that drives me crazy.

Florida State changed their logo the same week as we did, their logo has been updated on ESPN.com, ours hasn't.

I doubt ESPN made that change of their own accord, they almost certainly needed someone from Florida State to provide them with a properly rendered image, but even if they did, the DIA should have somebody pestering the web staff at ESPN with e-mails and phone calls until it gets right.

Where is the follow-through?

I noticed that too. we may be the only people too notice and I understand it hasn't been that long since the rebrand but still.

If you doesnt get changed right away like FSU, when does the change happen?

When we play OSU on ESPN next season is ESPN still going to use the outdated logo for the TV logo? :frustrated::rage:

Awesome, I'm golfing Tuesday and don't have one to wear. So I'll probably shoot my normal 20 something over par instead of 15 over. It's a good thing I enjoy drinking beer and playing golf. One thing is for sure, no matter what course I play, I get more for my money then most people do! :D

Someone on our end needs to proactively get it changed. Either lazy or improper staffing.

Got my new ^^^ last night (thanks, wife! :D) and it is SLICK! It's my first fitted-style one-size-fits all, and I'm super happy with it.

Once I got my first Flex Fit cap there was no going back! Never could stand the ones with the adjustable band in the back and the fitted ones didn't always fit the same (haircut, moisture, etc.) I have several now. Just need to get my first Team Shield Illini cap, the exact one pictured, to add to my collection!

Unfortunately, they are one-size fits most. For us melon heads, we have to wait for larger fitted versions to come out (if they do).

I'm sure everyone has seen this before, but how great would it be if Nike or the DIA or someone made a page like this for fans to create their own look with the new uni combinations?

Are they just resurfacing it, or is it going to be a whole new court?

Just emailed ESPN about the Illinois pages not being updated with the new logos/colors. It's ridiculous that Florida State's was changed just days after if was officially revealed (I believe it was 2 days before us) while we're still waiting.

Hopefully that gets done soon because it's a bit annoying now!

Way to go! Let's hope something comes from it.

I noticed a story in the Tribune online also used the old slant Illinois.

Here's the response I just got:

Don't hold your breath. ESPN will want you to subscribe to something first before they make a change.;)

Seriously, shouldn't someone from the DIA be doing follow up with media outlets on this? Secondly, why would ESPN respond to any of us without verification? Maybe that's what the proverbial escalation is about.

Absolutely. That would be square in the purview of the Creative Director-type position STLFan was talking about.

Actually, even if they added that position, this task might fall more to one of the Sports Information Directors, though you can be sure the Creative Director wouldn't let them forget about it until it was changed.

With that said, the SIDs are pretty on top of these things, so I wouldn't be shocked if they've already contacted the media outlets. You have to realize the reigning football national champions might make ESPN a bit more eager to fix a detail than Illinois would. A few years ago after we settled on the now old Block I (it always existed but so did like 5 others) as the one we'd use as often as possible, the Sports Info Dept. did a great job getting it updated across the board—at least with national outlets (local news will always be slow to adapt on this stuff).

It would disappoint me if we were wearing uniforms featuring the new logo and the major media hadn't updated it. Until then, I guess I wouldn't be too inclined to worry.

As long as we're talking about this, here's another one that has driven me crazy for years. On the team recruiting rankings, Rivals.com uses a weird customized imaging system where all the logos have a weird texture and are zoomed it. I see why they do it, it looks terrible for everyone, whatever. But that's not the issue. The issue is that every single other FBS football team has their official logo used except us. (FSU hasn't been updated yet, FWIW)

Look at this monstrosity:

What the hell is that? Where did that come from? How can our SID's look at that every time they go on a recruit's Rivals page (which, like most of us, must be all the time) and not do something about it?

I wanna say those are the old Yahoo images. Rivals is of course affiliated with Yahoo. Even though Yahoo has changed the way they present team logos, it looks like Rivals uses their own style.

None of which answers your questions, though. I have no idea where that logo came from. It was probably one of the billion variations floating around in the early 2000s, or they just made their own because they didn't know what to do after the Chief went off limits.

Good question on why the SIDs haven't gotten them to fix it.
