Interesting that the sash goes the other way (assuming that the old photo isn't flipped).

Not a complaint. In fact, I think I prefer the direction of the new one. Just noticed it was all.

The Virgin and Eddleman photos I found also had the sash from right shoulder down.

Just got my dri-fit Shield shirt in the mail today!

If you see an impossibly sweaty dude rocking the Shield jogging half-heartedly down the Chicago lakeshore, come say hello! :thumb:

Your consistently dour perspective on all things related to this topic is depressing. Cheer up, man.

What? Did you even read the post you responded to?

I said I liked what they did. My eye just noticed the difference from the new to the old. That stuff is interesting to me.

I have been sour about a lot of things in this thread, but this wasn't one of them. Detail-oriented and analytical =/= sour.

Shot the B1G's Track and Field this weekend, and I'll agree that the new men's shirts looked really good.

St. Louis, I'll defend you on this one. In this instance, I didn't take your comment as negative.

I offer this without comment.

I definitely prefer the 2nd and final version that was approved over the first one. Splitting up the schedule seems unnecessary/confusing to me.

I do wish they could have incorporated the Oskee Wow Wow into the second, but on the whole I prefer what was approved over what was submitted.

The orange and white is my least favorite uni by a large margin, so I don't like either one, but if you put a gun to my head, I'd take the first one by a very slim margin.

Bring back Jack Davis (wasn't that his name?)

I like the 2nd one as well. I like the Oskee Wow Wow on the first but outside of that not really a fan of the first one

Neither really do much for me but I agree with mossimo that the splitting up of the schedule looks very odd and, IMO, diminishes the utility of the piece.

In the second one, you prefer, how does anyone know which games are home and away? In the first one, the split is for home and away games.

More importantly, aren't those the old uniforms in both posters? If so, maybe they are going retro before they go forward?

Pizza, you and I are about the same age and even I know that "@" means an away game. Or a twitter handle. :D

the away games are blue and have an @ sign in front of them and the home games are orange. not very hard to see.

also it was the spring game poster, where we were wearing the old uniforms as the new ones weren't out yet.......

I bet they dropped the split schedule because it highlights how crummy the home schedule will be. It's the first thing you read and you know what they say about first impressions.

Also, I imagine the Oskee Wow Wow is too Chiefy.

I don't know that I've ever seen a schedule where the games weren't in one chronological list. Why would you even want to split home/away? Just for the sake of the season ticket holders who can't see by inspection which games are in Champaign?

The more I look at it, the dumber it seems.

Thankfully STL offered it without comment because I think the second one was the way to go. :shield:

I like everything about the first one better, except the split schedule. It grabs your attention better and is much cleaner. I don't need all the tags along the bottom. just silly distractions. Having the players emanate out of the "Oskee Wow Wow" gives the picture some purpose. The other one looks like some one is pouring players on the page from some giant off page pitcher. The "Block I" on the first one is nice. The "Our state, Our team" on the second is too small. If your going to put it on there make it stand out. Make it a much larger font and run it across the bottom instead of all the other stuff..

Now I'll comment.

I think you're probably all right on the schedule (I don't think two columns is an issue, but it probably should have just been two chronological columns, not home/away), but I can't under any circumstances see the second one as the better design.

The font Frutiger (which is Nike's chosen alternative font) isn't good and looks significantly worse than the font block font United on the original option. Frutiger has a way of making everything look like the mediocre posters of the early to mid-2000s since that was the font those used. Maybe there's nostalgia there, but bleh.

And then the composition and treatment of photos is much better in the first one as well. There's a reason to it. It creates a central and dynamic form in the center, and frames our official cheer, which is pretty unique to us and should get more play. (Oskee-wow-wow has nothing to do with the Chief, so I don't see that as a reason unless all traditions we ever had before 2006 are dead with the Chief.)

But this is of course all just my opinion. Everything's subjective here.
