The helmets aren't chrome (thank God). They are some sort of metallic ... but I agree with you that they look bad.

I hope we go back to a regular shiny orange paint to match the colors of our uniforms. Would look a lot better.

I thought that I would be a fan of metallic orange until I saw it under various lighting conditions. Return to previous orange helmet would be preferrable, IMO.

p.s. Eliminating generic lettermark on basketball jerseys would be a plus as well.

I like the orange helmets, but I understand that people would be turned off becasue it is a different shade of orange

As far as chrome goes, All chrome helmets can be very gaudy, but chrome detailing looks really sharp. for example, Auburn (who have always looked good) added a chrome stripe and logo on their helmets this year and they looked awesome

The core of my argument is there is no reason to emulate the Bears because
1) it throws out the signature bright Illinois Orange
2) the Bears of recent vintage have made 2 super bowl appearances in 50 years.

1) Does not throw out the Orange. The Bears even have an Orange ALT jersey.
2) Does not negate that the Bears have a huge fanbase and are the only NFL team in the third largest market in the US.
