I'm not a fan of the gray either. I think it would look best with blue pants and blue helmet. But as someone else said, the blue has orange accents so it would look odd unless you added a little orange to the gray as well. if you wear orange pants and helmets with the gray, you still should add orange accents to the jersey to tie it all together. We have wonderful colors to work with in Orange, blue and white. I really don't understand the need for the gray, Galloping (Gray) Ghost or not.

I think we all know Nebraska is wearing their all red look against us on Sept 27. I've called this game an upset by us. If it happens does Nebraska burn the all red and never wear it again?

Seriously, this obsession with uniforms and every team wanting something, anything, different is an interesting phenomenon. Does it fade out of vogue anytime soon?

The sad thing is, that wearing grey isn't different. Several teams already do. As others have said, I'd be more open to it, if there was actually some orange in there.

Totally agree. No need for gray at all.

Agreed - won't it be funny when the traditional, regular uniform eventually becomes the "something, anything different" uniform? :noidea:

Agreed. The Shield should have at least been orange, navy and white. It almost looks like someone took a color photo, made it grayscale and printed the jersey.

Some may not like the grey, but truth is that most of the players/recruits will. Personally, I'd rather have us look a little different every time we go out there. I just get so tired of the same orange on white look every week. Also remember that grey is technically a secondary color of ours. Some schools just do grey for the heck of it, and I suppose we made it a color just for the heck of it as well, but you'll continue to see grey things with Illinois like you see gold with michigan state.

I'm just gonna stick to my grey T-shirts with the Illini logos on them, that's a grey that looks good! I won't be one of the folks who buy grey jerseys.

I bought my son one of the grey nike shirts with the shield and it looks great IMHO.

I like the grey. My issue is using only Navy. Adding a touch of orange somewhere, as in the shield and outlining the jersey numbers, might garner more positive reviews. Then again, it may look a lot different with the rest of the uniform. :D

Any rule that says every player has to wear the some uniform ? Let each guy pick his own combination. They can each wear different shoes now so why not different uniforms. Hey, come to think of it, they could even wear mis-matched shoes too :)

I guess they wouldn't be "uniforms" then. The team would be wearing "differents". :cool:

Most likely not. Generally Nike only makes two colors of jerseys for schools with our current level of football standing. Blue won't be available for sale since we won't be wearing them unless something has changed and I think they generally feel colors will sell better than whites.

I wish there was some way you could order authentic jerseys through the school. The replica jerseys don't match what the team wears on the field (collar & no stripes on the front), so I have no interest in buying one.
