Any chance THT told the Xavier and Iowa State coaches he was gonna pick Illinois yesterday? I know most players don't do that, but some do give the courtesy ahead of time. That would be WEIRD now.

Agree on this. I would call him more streaky than elite. Could carry you for a 2-4 min stretch and then disappear.

I think it was said many times on this board at the time, but him moving back to ESL from LaLu could only be a bad thing for UI.

Can we please stop speculating with the NBA head coaches. There's no way they are leaving their jobs mid-season to come coach Illinois or any school. That's something that would only happen in the off-season, and we don't have that kind of timetable.

The Coaching Search thread is such a double-edged sword. On one hand, it means we've sucked consistently enough to warrant a change. On the other hand, this thread is by far the most entertaining. Somebody said it earlier, Steve Masiello got 2 pages on this thing!....Carry on.

so how does work from a recruiting standpoint once (hopefully) he's gone? Does Whitman have the ability to keep in touch with committed recruits and tell them it's all unicorns and rainbows and everything is gonna work out?

Just the same pattern every time in big games like this is all you need to know about a coach. Within the first five minutes they're down double digits and have zero sense of direction/conviction, whatever you wanna call it. PATHETIC.
