And here's something to keep in mind.

The Irvins gladly advocated for Illinois in Ayo's case. But notice that Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, etc. weren't involved.

Do you really think the Irvins are going to be loyal in pushing elite MIF kids to Illinois when they have the option of going to KU, Kentucky, or Duke?

We are lying to ourselves if we think this deal with the Irvins will automatically get us the best of the MIF.

I have been on Twitter way too much today trying decipher tweets, likes, follows. I've came to a conclusion that THT's mom follows Fletch...commitment imminent :D

I guess we will find out if the Irvins really meant it when they advocated for 100% loyalty from both sides

Look at it this way...Person X gives you $1,000,000.00, and says that he has a good chance of being able to get you another $1,000,000.00 over the next couple years. Awesome!

Then Person Y if going to give you $800,000.00, and also says that he has a good chance of getting you another $1,000,000.00 over the next couple years. Fantastic!!

However, before you get the money from Person Y, Person X says, "If you take the $800,000.00 from Person Y, I get my $1,000,000.00 back."

Which one would you choose?

Hopefully both Ayo and THT have made what they believe is the best decision for them. That's all we can really hope for. :) The sky isn't falling, things are fine, life for our team goes on. I just wish it basketball season already.

I really feel bad and angry for the kids. They are 16-17 years olds, and the adults in their lives are acting like %#$&*$ children. What terrible, selfish "role models."

I'm sorry, but if it were true that Ayo camp gave Underwood that sort of ultimatum, I say thanks but no thanks. I don't want someone like that on the team, that screams cancer. But what's hard for me to reconcile is that type of behavior doesn't seem so mesh with how Ayo & his family have carried themselves during their recruitment.

What if it is the MIF camp, and not Ayo's family?

Or maybe the Irvins had literally nothing to do with this and the 2 kids just decided they didn't really want to play together. And THT has had his mind set on ISU/ Xavier for a few days and people are just now getting wind of it... aka nothing changed.

Quit making up stories and just assuming its facts.

To be fair, Simeon has kind of done the same thing. Sure they send us their good players, but they never send us their elite players. We get the 40 and 50s players but never 5 stars. Ie Tate but not Parker.

That would be true if this had nothing to do with recruiting relationships and future recruits, but it does.

Also, I certainly want to keep the Simeon relationship on the positive side of things, but it's not like that relationship has netted us any burger boys or anything lately. Having them as our sole pipeline hasn't led to a national championship. It's a wonderful relationship, but it isn't indispensable.

what... are you saying we can't have our cake AND eat it too??

Agree that the sky isn't falling. Let's be honest -- we were all getting greedy when it became clear that THT was in play. But we're all happy with Ayo and just Ayo.

That said......this upsets me because THT is getting the stiff arm because Nick and Mike Irvin demand loyalty to MIF.

And that is some b*******.

Like I said, it looks good right now in 2017 but we don't know how each player will land by 2020. It's also just an example. I'd love either player, but I want the players that are the best fit for our program, not the players a CPS coach tells us to pick.

I understand what you’re saying, but the Mac Irvin Fire have stars every single year so I probably wouldn’t complain if the Irvin’s told BU that had to take their best players every year considering those are guys like Ayo, Miller, Whitney, Okafor, Lovett, etc.

That would be a pure and innocent way of looking at it. But there's a hell of a lot of smoke suggesting otherwise.

Honestly just curious but why did the MIF do this for Illinois now when in the past they haven't really shown they they care to steer their blue chip recruits to Illinois? They really like BU?

Let's not also forget that winning tends to heal all wounds. I think this is one of the few situations were you might wanna go for the option better for the short term since hopefully in the long run, we become a national and local destination and these kind of things aren't as big of a deal

Chin Coleman. He used to coach the MIF.

Wow, there must be some super fragile adult male ego's behind all this.
Sensitive.

Also, have there ever been two "foggy" crystal balls for the same recruit before?

I think this is more Ayo's "camp" leveraging MIF to do their bidding.
