This is spot on. The STL media is all Mizzou and to a smaller extent SLU. In the metro east Illini coverage is pretty poor. These kids don't grow up following the Illini. For example, Mark Smith got his love of the Illini from his younger years before he moved to Edwardsville.

I live a few doors down from the Smiths. They are great people and Mark is the perfect Illini. Not only a great athlete, but a great kid. My whole family is so excited!

As of Friday it was MSU & ILL. Mark and Dad were going to get things figured out over the weekend trip. I don't know what the conclusion was and maybe Cash is right. I certainly hope so.

Totally agree. No matter what happens with recruiting this year, Whitman made the right call. Cuonzo had a perfect storm blowing in his direction. The superior coach is going to win the day long term. I have zero doubts who that coach is.
