Watching this Utah/UCLA game, the Utah coach and his full staff are in suits. I haven’t seen that in a while. Most coaches are opting for the more casual look. Utah is tied with UCLA, playing it tight this far.

Yeah, digging a hole in that one for sure. Rule #1 is don't turn on your fans. (To be fair, he says "media", but that's nearly as bad unless you can create a hard line that you're calling someone specific out who deserves it --then rest will get the message and the fans won't feel lumped in with them).
If you've watched Bill Self, he's masterful in these kinds of situations. He'll dance around the issue while listing his excuses. So if he did that same interview, it would go something like:
"Our fans want us to play at a high level regardless of whether we have a depleted Covid roster, and I'm not going to use the excuse that our roster is depleted from covid, which it is. So no excuses, you fans deserve better even though we're missing key players A & B, who are really great and contribute a lot and we're missing them, but no excuses. You deserve a winner and that's what we have to do, and looking ahead, I think it will help a lot when we're back at full strength. But again, no excuses."
