I think the blue blood debate is a bit silly, but Indiana does have 5 NCs, which I think ties them for about 6th on all-time list. And FYI, Knight only had 3 of those.

Technically they are still a blue blood by definition because of their history with 5 national titles. Similar to Notre Dame in college football. They are always going to be blue bloods.
I guess you forgot about Branch McCracken, he won 2 national titles. IU was winning before Knight got there.
