There was also this finish tonight between Oklahoma and Sam Houston State:

My throat hurts after listening to that....

Mizzou 97-91?

Braggin Rights might be a track meet this year, which I'm all for.
Just hope Mizzou sells their side out again. Last year was my first Braggin' Rights Game, and while it was awesome and I'll be going back this year, the combination of Mizzou being terrible and their bowl game being during the game made their side of the arena look pathetic. Can't even imagine how fun of an atmosphere it is when both sides are full!

Also, some games of interest coming up next week:

Tuesday 11/15
#5 Kansas vs. #7 Duke in Indianapolis, IN
#19 San Diego State at Stanford ... for Team Rankings Matter, it'd be nice for someone in front of us to lose!

Wednesday 11/16
#2 Gonzaga at #12 Texas ... would be a huge early season win for the Longhorns and fatten 'em up for us to beat a top 10 team in New York City!

Then, next (next) weekend is when things really take off!

Friday 11/18
#8 UCLA vs. #23 ILLINOIS in Las Vegas, NV
#5 Baylor vs. #18 Virginia in Las Vegas, NV (we play winner/loser)
#13 Indiana at Xavier ... let's see if the Loosiers trip up in November or wait until January to get exposed!
#16 Villanova at Michigan State

Sunday 11/20
#5 Baylor/#18 Virginia vs. #23 ILLINOIS in Las Vegas, NV
#5 Baylor/#18 Virginia vs. #8 UCLA in Las Vegas, NV
#3 Houston at #21 Oregon
#4 Kentucky at #2 Gonzaga

Yep...where are the fans who didn't think Podz could play at this level...not quick enough. 😎
Hold on. Let’s see how he does against Gonzaga

Sample size is small. Just like those saying Mayer needs to do this or that.

Might be…
BUT, isn’t Southern Indinia supposed to be one of their cupcake games? As far as I know, they’re no juggernaut and they put up 91. I know it’s early, but it looks like Mizzery just squeaked by.

30 points / 9 rebounds for Podz in his Santa Clara debut 😲
I said a while back that not playing Podz last year then losing him was a rare mistake BU made. His shooting would have nice to have especially with Goode out. But would that have taken minutes away from Harris or Epps. We cannot live in the past but his shooting would have been nice to have.

it's much easier to shoot against Eastern Washington than it is Big Ten competition.

It really boils down to, would you rather have Podz than Shannon or Mayer? That's a pretty easy answer for most. When we brought in 3 very similar guys in 1 class, you had to think not all 3 would graduate from Illinois.

Podz made a biz decision moving on. Grandison and BBV did similar. It is a whole new era....I expect players with 2 stops will be norm going fwd. TS and Mayer similar. I'm just glad we didnt lose RJ. We will see massive rotation after this year too and will have to learn to live with that each year. Portal will be our friend hopefully.

Would also add that this is the first year for USI playing in D1. I just moved from Southern Illinois to about 4 miles from USI campus. I'm sure there are a lot of Illini fans that remember a former USI coach. This is also where Jamar Smith ended up after leaving UI

Didn't want to start a 11/9 games thread so put this here - Bellarmine (another D2 recently turned D1 team like USI) took down Louisville 67-66 at Louisville this evening - ouch.

Bellarmine won the ASUN tournament last year but couldn't go to the NCAA Tournament because of the transition. So they're not some also ran.

Fun fact. Bellarmine is in Louisville and their head coach is a form Crum and Patino assistant. They also have one of the most efficient offenses in D2 and in D1 since their transition.
