And a salary savings????

Reading Joel's comment (Goodson not Quennville :) I am surprised the Hamks cannot renogotitate his contract.

Can only bury $950K. Can't renegotiate. All per the CBA.

Bickell isn't going to Rockford, evidently. So, nevermind, on my prev. post.

Thanks for the info. $950k savings, possible wake up call for Bickell. Maybe a win win.

In fairness, before the vertigo, Bickell was doing a lot of the dirty work. I recall seeing, in the playoffs, how he was consistently one of the hits leaders. Finally putting that big body to good use. Now, being a physical presence doesn't earn or deserve $4m a year, but that was primarily earned from the 2013 Cup.

I wonder how much the vertigo and bad knees are really a problem. whatever the issues are, looks like he will be working through them in Chicago.

Excited to see how the young guys like Baun, Panarin and TT (with a full season) are going to progress this year. I'd guess they are still the favorites for 2015/2016.

A little off topic, but tangentially Blackhawk related. Just saw a notice that Rafi Torres was suspended 41 games for, surprise, a hit to the head of another player.

I guess they cannot suspend him for life, but he sure seems like a candidate.

Justly deserved. Hopefully, that's the end of Torres' NHL career.

41 games?!?!?!
Wow. Totally justified with his history, but wow.

Its to bad another team will sign him. The thing I hate about Torres is, he doesn't have to play like that. Some guys in the league are thugs and that's the only thing they can bring to the game. Torres can play in the NHL and not be like that, he choses to.

Him and 88 on the same line with a true 2nd line center? Look out...

Flyers tonight. They suck, so we'll probly lose. I doubt it though. Looking forward to more globetrotters action.

What did you guys think of the 3v3 overtime the other night? I thought it was pretty entertaining, and the Blackhawks should have an edge over most teams with all the space for Kane and co to do their thing.

I've heard it accused of the Gretzky-era Oilers that they'd purposefully get a penalty so that they could go 4 on 4. With Greztky's and Coffey's ability to hold the puck and the other team unable to ice it, it was unfair. (I don't know if they really did get a penalty on purpose. I think it's more likely that McSorely or Messier was retaliating for whatever rough stuff the other team was trying to pull on Greztky.)

The Hawks aren't quite on that level, but I think the theory holds. More ice for Kane, Keith, etc. is only good for the Hawks.

3v3 has a much higher probability of ending games. Anything's better than earning a point via a skills contest. And, yes, the Hawks have an advantage, in most cases decided, with the new format.

Hawks struggled last year in ot Iirc. Or was it the shoot outs?

Should be good for several more points, so even with some slumps, they probably should not be worrying about a playoff spot. Last year, with one week to ten days remaining, the Hawks had a shot at first, but also shot at not making the playoffs. Shouldn't happen this year IMO.

+1 holds true tonight! I like the transition instead of 5 min more of the same.
