Seriously why is our aging slow as heck can't hit extra bases catcher batting 5th? I love Yadi for defense and what he does for pitching but I'm over him batting 5th.

I agree, he shouldn't be batting 5th. But since Pham and Peralta are injured, it's not like there are any significantly better options. Gyorko? Moss/Adams? At least Molina doesn't strike out like the rest of the lineup loves to do.

Not so good numbers with teams starting 0-3

Meh. None of those teams (the bad ones) had the pitching this team has. I'm not worried about this team being in it at the end, I just think they eased off the starters too much in spring and they are not yet as sharp as they need to be. This rotation is as good/better than last year's 1-5. The numbers may not bear that out at the end of the year because last year was historically good, but talent wise they are.

I think our biggest issue will be offense. The talent is there, but can they put it together consistently, and get enough production from SS to stem the tide til Peralta returns. So far off to a bad start there

I also thought I had read that the 06 team started 0-3 but they aren't on that list, so I either mis read or whoever said that was wrong.

Agreed. The Pirates won 98 games last year. If you don't play good baseball you're going to get whooped. I would be more worried if we played great baseball and still got swept. Plus, we were terrible against lefties last year and Pittsburgh started 2 lefties.

Grichuk shouldn't be batting clean up. He strikes out too much. But Peralta and Pham being out really screws up the flexibility. The only other option I can see is moving Carpenter down in the lineup and having Wong bat leadoff. But that also has it's negatives.:(

Fell terrible for him. No player deserves that

Agreed. I hope he can fully recover as he is a good guy and teammate from what I have read. At least we aren't the only ones with injury. Such is the nature of the sport.

They've got the depth to overcome this, they will be fine. It is interesting that a week into the season they already have a more significant injury than they faced all of last year, at least in my opinion. Maybe the injuries just follow heyward, or lackey

Gonna have a hard time sending hazelbanger down when pham gets healthy if he keeps this up. Same for diaz. Good to get in the win column.

Is it me or does Hazelberg have a swing that resembles Josh Hamilton's. Short and sweet

I didn't realize it was a record. interesting. So what do we think of these new guys? I haven't seen many of the games this year, listened to 2.

The D is suboptimal. Need a reset on spring training and stress defensive fundamentals.

I wonder if there is any way we could get rid of Moss or Adams so we can keep Hazelbanger.

It'll be good for Diaz to go down and play everyday at AAA. He has a ton of potential, but he shouldn't be up yet.

Pump the brakes on Hazelberg. He hasn't stuck anywhere before, and Moss/Adams have a much longer track record. I'd be willing to guess Hazelberg is more than likely a Bo Hart type than a late bloomer like a Ludwick.

Glad the offense has come around, but we really need Grichuk to get going. Need to clean up the sloppiness on defense too. Way too many errors, that will bite us against good teams

Welp, it looks like Marco will be out for the year. We better hope Reyes comes out on fire when his suspension is done.
