2017 Basketball Transfer Thread

Tate said yesterday they stopped recruiting him. Thought Sturdy said the same. Tate said more baggage than what has been reported.

I'm actually glad to hear this. If they evaluate a guy who has a lot of potential, but find his character lacking/fit is bad, and drop him, to me that's a good sign. Fit is really important, and I'll be happy to have a coach again who understands that.

Looking at Bragg's stats from his two years at Kansas, he doesn't look like as great as he's cracked up to be. Unless I'm missing something.

He's been productive enough for how few minutes he's seen. If Underwood/Whitman felt confident in taking a chance on him, fine. But he's always seemed like a head case to me. His attitude on the court is horrible, IMO, or at least it was. Seems like he has a lot of growing up to do. It's been mentioned before by others, but if Bill Self is ready to kick him to the curb then I'm not sure I want him. But, again, that's a judgment for important people to make, not me.

Plus it seems most are going off where he was at when we recruited him, I was at first when he announced he was transferring. Now that I've seen what he's done the past couple years at KU he's not nearly as appealing.

And on top of that, the whole transfer thing has kind of lost it's luster for me. Yes, we got a couple decent players in Groce' tenure. But did it really help us all that much? Not really.

Another transfer candidate...Jack Whitman of William and Mary. I understand NC is looking at him. WM runs up tempo and may be a good transfer fit for us.

This article about McIntosh is a couple of weeks old but 6 ISU people pick where he might end up. 1 picks us, 1 Mizzou, 1 Dayton and 3 Minnesota. He was good friends with Reggie Lynch, he wants to play in a P5 conference, and Minnesota is almost assured of making the tournament next year.
Not being invited to the combine means almost for sure he'll be transferring - not sitting around waiting for a phone call. Have to admit Minnesota makes the most sense.

What's Minny's bigs situation? I highly doubt almost any school will be able to offer the amount of immediate playing time we could (which is what 99% of transfers really want), plus we are just right down the road. I think Illinois makes a ton of sense, too.

McIntosh thinks he can play in the NBA so I don't think he's worried about getting playing time most places he goes. Found this on a Gopher website and it sounds like they can use bigs -- they return 4 of 5 starters so they're going to be good but McIntosh would make them very good. Not saying he's going there, just saying that right now they make more sense than Illinois if he wants pt and a shot at the dance.
What still makes you nervous about next year?
Unless Lynch can show a clear evolution in his ability to not foul, the frontcourt depth is going to be a pain point again next season. Bakary Konate is serviceable at best, but the Gophers were overwhelmed when Lynch was on the bench. He’ll be the crux again, which is equal parts exciting and scary.

Even though we could offer him a lot of PT, if I was McIntosh I'd be a little concerned about playing out of position at Illinois due to the dearth of quality bigs on the roster. Underwood's offensive system may allay this issue somewhat, but if I'm 6'7 with NBA aspirations I do not want to be the biggest guy on the floor trying to guard the other guy's center every time down.

Saw some tape.on him someplace in the last few days. Looks like he could be a really good pickup. NC looking at him should be evidence of that.

I'd pass on Rooks and the guy from Charlotte barely got into their rotation so I'd pass on him too.

Jack Whitman and Hans Brase look good.

Are we in on this guy? He definitely fits our needs. He and Finke are both stretch guys at the 5. Question is can either of them guard Big 10 big men.

Haven't seen anything as of yet...I think he could help us and get relief minutes..choices are getting slimmer. Rooks I would pass on for sure.

Hans Brase could help us as well...either him or Benas guy could I think.
