Fair. But it's not the full context - Smith is being catered by two HOF'ers coaching elite programs, for a reason. Don't believe that was the case for Moore.
Additionally, you pick up Moore after years' one and two of Lucas and Frazier, respectively.
It's a tough position. A lot of other factors/relationships could influence the decision.
Feels more like a double to me especially if the Illini do land Mark Smith. I have seen both play and I'd take Mark Smith in just about every way over Charlie Moore. Further, I would take Trent Frazier and (a healthy) Damonte Williams over him.
Don't get me wrong. I would be recruiting him and if Mark Smith falls through I'd go for it for sure but otherwise I would likely pass if Smith is on board. Crazy to think since we would have killed for a Charlie Moore type guard most of the past few seasons under Groce. He has game but so do the others.
I hope so. He would be a great addition.
Iowa State has had success with this method and don't disagree they'd be good pickups.
We didn't pony up to be Transfer U. Let's at least try to be option A (personal opinion), unless it's a Center

Charlie Moore is like hitting a home run when you are already up by 7 runs. It's nice, but shouldn't be necessary.
And what, exactly, has Bragg done that you know of?
Frazier can play the 2 but is lead guard material all day. He'd be a very serviceable point guard in just about any system with his skill set. Yes, he's a scorer and a good shooter but he can facilitate with the best of them. If I'm not mistaken he averaged like 6 or 7 apg as a sophomore.

The big news in this overall story --- there sure is some very solid talent out there. Anxious to now see what the Big 4 can reel in.
What has he really done?? The girl that accused him of battery was the one that actually ended up getting charged. He got caught with a weed pipe, not smart but no reason to not get a second chance. He hasn't did anything worse than a lot of guys that were allowed to stay at Illinois in the last 10-12 years.
I just think some people prefer Smith and obviously we wont be taking both.

Partly sour grapes. Partly preference for Smith. Partly a desire to see us chasing front court players.
You're making a hard run at s&c for my favorite poster. You guys are at the top of the list for different reasons, but the top nonetheless.
If i remember correctly, a lot of people were against Charlie coming here out of HS. It wasn't like he was a Brunson or Evans type where everyone here wanted him.
