What has he really done?? The girl that accused him of battery was the one that actually ended up getting charged. He got caught with a weed pipe, not smart but no reason to not get a second chance. He hasn't did anything worse than a lot of guys that were allowed to stay at Illinois in the last 10-12 years.

People were ready to kick innocent kids out of UI, simply because a stupid drunk college girl levied false accusations against them. It's unfortunate that in some cases the notion of innocent until proven guilty goes out the window.

Charlie Moore is like hitting a home run when you are already up by 7 runs. It's nice, but shouldn't be necessary.
Or like hitting a solo when you are down 10 runs. Which is a bit closer to our reality

You don't want him because he was smoking weed? A lot of people smoke weed. I bet a lot of players do. Half the NFL seems to. And it's inching closer to legal everyday.

If it's about the girl that no one knows nothing about, it could be true but the story seems to clear him of that fact. It could also be fury of a woman scorned for all we know. I want to see Illini to have talent coming out of their ears right now ASAP

I didn't say any opinion? Trust me, I do not care about ANYONE smoking weed. He just asked what he had actually done. So I posted a link.

I am all for second chances when it comes to *minor* drug charges.

As soon as Illinois is in the final four in Colorado or Washington, I'll be there ;)

Well, I will add to both common themes currently in this thread...I would take Carlton Bragg before Charlie Moore all day long. A more talented player at a much bigger position of need.

Once again, this is not belittling Charlie Moore at all. He is a very good player and I would have killed for him over Tate the past few years but with Lucas, Coleman-Lands, Frazier and Williams all with at least 2 more seasons of eligibility and a decent shot still at Mark Smith while really needing front-court players I would either slow play or pass but that is just me.

Take both Mark and Charlie. Why do you think kids go to Kentucky, Duke, NC and Mich. St? Because they know they will play with other good players and practice against them. If Mark Smith was afraid of competition he wouldn't be visiting either of those schools.

Adding both Moore and Bragg to this roster, and possibly a guy like Smith, would make for one hell of a roster in 2018-19. Add another big and suddenly Brad Underwood has a whole lot to work with. That gets me pretty excited.

Wouldn't be the first time we've had 2 IL Mr Basketballs on the same team, go for it. ;)

Personally, I think Moore will look strongly at DePaul since he won't have to sit out there & become immediately eligible. I wouldn't exactly mind being wrong,

why wouldn't he have to sit out there? hardship waivers aren't a thing any more.

I wasn't aware of that, since it wasn't very uniform in how it was carried out, it is probably a good thing. Personally, I'm not real fond of the graduate transfer rules either, while I understand the reasoning for the rule.
We could find that out after next season, in that we have two players who could conceivably move on.

Exactly !! This mentality that we can only have one good player per position is ridiculous. You take any good player who wants to come. You take Moore, you take Bragg, you take Smith....do you see Duke or Kentucky turning away good players because they already have a good player at that position?? Think about it....

Couldn't agree more. The best Illinois basketball team ever started two point guards and a shooting guard. Seemed to work pretty well then.

I don't even feel the need to argue about this one, because I am completely confident Chin Coleman is already beginning a full court press to get Moore, who would be a home run.

Agree completely. As someone once said on here "when pie is passing, you take pie". (One of my favorite sayings from this board).

You're making a hard run at s&c for my favorite poster. You guys are at the top of the list for different reasons, but the top nonetheless.

Shakur Juiston visits Iowa State today. For some reason I think he's still alive on our list. This staff is incredibly secretive.

The best Illinois team ever started Dee Brown, Deron Williams and Luther Head

The best team since then started Chester Frazier, Demetri McCamey, and Trent Meacham

The best team since THEN started Tracy Abrams, DJ Richardson, and Brandon Paul

Three true relatively small guards is not a magic bullet or a panacea, but an Illini fan could be forgiven for thinking it was.

Any three of Lucas, Frazier, Smith, Moore and Dosunmu can absolutely be on the floor together and we'll have hit the freaking jackpot if we can get all of those players on one team. And any of the three we don't yet have would help us bigly.

I agree. Obviously it has to be the right guards and not just any 3 guards. In my opinion, Coach Underwood's offense can support a three guard/athletic forward. Imagine how tough it would be for an opposing coach to defend the pace of play of that. And I get that it would be difficult to defend a traditional lineup, but basketball is easy. All you have to do is outscore the opposing team. I heard that somewhere.

I agree with what you are saying, with the caveat that, of the three, Moore helps us the least.

You can't play Lucas, Frazier and Moore at the same time without being abused defensively. They are way too small.

That's giving some pause in regards to Moore. It's a complicated situation, as his recruitment could have both positive and negative implications to other targets, plus it involves Irvin.

Am I the only one who sees Moore following Martin to misnoz? I realize this thread is Illinois focused, but if Moore goes there, I hope it doesn't turn into another bashing of this staff as "losing him," given their prior relationship.
