Cuonzo has two relatively highly rated guards coming in next year (#73 and #152 in the 247 composite rankings). If he's hired here, I wonder if any recruits would follow him - especially in the event that someone from our class decommits.

Considering I also post on that site - I can tell you that he is not to be trusted. Seems like more often than not he is wrong with his inside information.

I post as well but I have found him/her to be fairly accurate. Not 100% or maybe 80% but someone I believe they have a decent source that may be somewhat in the know or at least close to the inner circle of the dealings that go on in this type of thing. Donor????

Whitman keeps things close to the vest... and his inner circle is very tight. No way this is true.

153 doesn't really classify as highly rated when you're talking about P5 schools, but would be interesting to see if/what changes occur to the recruiting class if Cuonzo was the hire.

My god, I'd love to have him coach here.. Press conferences would be SOOOOO much different than Groce... in a good way.

Could JVG recruit though? I don't think any of the kids today would know who he is

Lord Van Gundy uses hypnosis and telepathy as primary recruiting tools. He will sign players 1-10 every year. In his laboratory, he will clone Patrick Ewing to play center. Then, he'll hire the original Patrick Ewing to mentor the clone. Finally, he'll hire Rick "Patrick Ewing" Brunson as video coordinator. When the Ewing circle is complete, we will achieve our destiny and win the elusive NCAA title.

I'm not saying this is the case, but think about the scenarios between basketball and football. Whitman might benefit from a leak in this case.

I thought of Monty as a potential coach as early last summer, he carries himself very well, former NBA player and coach. I'm glad I wasn't the only one with that idea since others have posted it. I think he needs the right situation to fulfill the family requirements due to the recent tragic event.

I do think Whitman will request Colagelo greatly assist in the hiring. I believe it will be an impact hire with potential NBA ties, but not a NBA journeyman coach. I still think Cuanzo Martin is a favorite, but I'm buying into the theory that a coach has been contacted and moves are being made(such as retaining Walker). Considering Martin is employed I can't see that happening.

So bottom line I don't see a up and coming mid-major.

That post isn't very far off.. By very far off I mean it's not really off at all unless something changes dramatically.

Can't name names because the way the internet is these days (look at the Demetrius Jackson was going to transfer to Illinois thing lol) but that post is something I was told word for word by an insider today.

Are you also "CJ5050"?.....:thumb:

I'm starting to become excited for a possible Monty Williams hire. I read some glowing comments made in the past by guys like Durant and Zach Randolph. I think some star support, and his connections to USA basketball could really help pull in a great first class.

44 years old, respectable record as NBA HC. Terrible personal story with his wife. If he's ready to get back to coaching and wants to take a shot at college, I'd be excited for him.

His wife's parents live in the "Alamo" city and basically take care of the 5 children.

I was unfamiliar with the story of his wife and looked it up. Wow, such tragic story. I can't imagine the pain he and his family are experiencing. Hoping he and his family have found some semblance of peace.
