Nice article about coach Small and his 3rd round. I didn't realize he was 51, I wonder if he has ever tried to qualify for any senior tour events.

He's played in several and has tried to get on the tour via their Q-school, but it's probably the toughest tour to get on. Not a lot of open spots available and a lot of very good players trying to get them. Not to mention he has little time to play/practice to keep his game sharp.

I for one was very aware of his age as he was a year behind me in high school. :D

Coach Small qualified for the PGA by finishing T3.
Its his TENTH  PGA tournament and first since 2013.
Congrats, Coach. Very impressive.

Played some great golf on Sunday. Success on tour helps make Illinois even hotter destination for golf than it is already. Just wish Sergio wouldn't have tied him on last hole.

More Illini playing in Quad Cities this weekend at the John Deere Classic. Let's see lots of orange outside the ropes. :illinois:

Looks like 3 of 5 got in for the weekend: Hardy, Campbell, and Stricker (on the number!) My prediction: Watch Stricker rise to a top 10, or better, as he puts the pedal to the metal, as per usual.

Campbell and Stricker both going low today, but it's tough to move up much when everyone makes a bunch of birdies on this course.

I want to go to Vegas with you ;-)

Campbell, Guthrie and Danielson were all in position to really help their tour status for next season, unfortunately none of them made much of a move. But a good showing for Brian, best finish of the season. Needs to make more cuts and a couple more top 25 finishes in the last 5 events would give him a chance.

At the Open, after their first round, Pieters is at -1 while Stricker is at even par. The leaders sit at -5 so far. Nice start for both. A couple at the Golf channel made Stricker a dark horse favorite yesterday. Nice.

All O&B in the field made it to the weekend!! Go Pieters and Stricker! Just watch Stricker take it low this weekend, guaranteed.

Jordan Spieth wins this year's Open Championship. Had a rough start to his 4th round but recovered nicely.

He can go for the career grand slam at next month's PGA Championshiup at Quail Hollow.

Big weekend for Luke Guthrie at the Digital Ally Open, finishing T2 at -22. That finish moves him up 35 spots to 37th on the projected money list, about $30,000 outside the top 25.

Thomas Pieters currently on top of leader board at Bridgestone. In with a 65.
