How did waino not win silver slugger last year? He rakes. 4 rbi tonight and I believe he led pitchers last year in xbh and rbi...

Didn't realize that. Arrietta did hit .262 last year so it makes sense

So... our base running and situational hitting still blows this year. At least our pitching is getting better, except Siegrest. And Martinez needs to get rid of the hair extensions, he has not been good since getting them.

I saw the term "TOONBLAN" on reddit yesterday - thrown out on the bases like a nincompoop. I smiled, then sighed. Two toonblans so far today.

I saw the ejections, w/out sound on, but not the precipitating action(s). Looked like arguing strikes, MCarp was at the plate, Matheny was being supportive.

My college team has a chart with the DABR column. Stands for Dumb A** Base Running

That's what it was. There was a high pitch that was outside the zone that was called a strike that Carp didn't agree with (the Pitch Trax during the game placed it outside as well). He then got caught looking on the next pitch, argued with the ump, got tossed, and then Matheny came out and got tossed shortly there after.

Who would have thought this team would get back over .500. We are so error prone and yet we are winning.

The overall breakdown in fundamental play is simply astonishing. Simply not what Cards fans are accustomed to seeing

La Russa would have never tolerated it. But it "thrives" under Matheny.

Its hard to say but its totally unacceptable. We are an incredibly young team with some talent. In all the years watching the redbirds this may be on of the younger teams i remember fielding. With youth comes mistakes. Our guys have to learn to not take plays off.

Jose Martinez got hurt last night and was placed on the 10 day DL. The Cardinals have called up 21 year old Magnueris Sierra from Class A Palm Beach to take his spot. While this is quite a leap for Sierra, with the DLs for Piscotty and Martinez and Fowler currently day to day with a shoulder injury, he was the only OF left on the 40 man roster so they had no choice but to call him up.

Sierra is in today's line-up vs. Atlanta, batting 7th, and playing CF.

Sierra may be in over his head batting a little, but is supposed to be a very good defensive outfielder.

Great win tonight. Too bad Wongs hitting streak got snapped. I love that he is doing better.

I am starting to feel better about going to the games the 26th and 27th now. Plus I'll get a free Arenado jersey on the 27th. It'll allow me to have even more hope we can pick him up. Somehow someway.

Sierra is pretty fun to watch. And Pham is doing well too. Too bad they are probably going back down when Martinez and Piscotty come back. Maybe keep Pham up for Martinez?
