If you trade Rodon your saying you don't think he has the ability to be the player you drafted him to be. If he puts it all together, he will be better than Q. Sell high on Q now and we will have the top farm system in baseball ready to compete in the next couple of years.

Sox vs Cubs today. I am really excited to see Giolito on the mound.

Would anyone else be ok if the Sox worked out a deal with the Cubs for Q? I moved away from Chicago 8 years ago, and over time my concern with Cubs baseball has dropped way down. Still dislike the Cubs, but what they do has little concern to me anymore. So if Q went to the north side, but the sox got back a great package, Im good with it. I also think they are one of the teams at the start of the off season that made the most sense for Q. Good system, wanting long term young pitching. That said i would want Eloy Jimenez, Ian Happ, Jeimer Candelario, and 1 more added in to get it done. Just curious on if others feel the same way or if it would hurt to much to see him in cubby blue.

100% agree with this.

Didn't Hahn already say he won't trade with the Cubs when we were still shopping Sale?

I think that Hahn did say that.

But, I'm with the initial poster. I moved away in 1996 so it's been over 20 years for me and I have not dealt with the insufferable fans on a daily basis for quite some time. I just want the Sox to win. I cared less and less about the cubs every year since I moved away and didn't even give them a thought after 2005. I'd support trading Q for the best deal possible - period.

Not saying I disagree with the thought, I was just saying that when our GM says he won't trade with a team then I just assume that it is a done deal that we will not trade with that team, otherwise why say it in the media.

Hahn basically said that was basically "fake news". He said his concern was to do what is best for the Sox, if that included a deal with the Cubs he would have no problem doing it.

I don't think he ever said it is the thing. It was always lazy reporting and no quotes. I remember hearing an interview from the Cubs front office saying that a deal with the Sox would be hard because the Cubs would end up paying a "tax" for making a deal in the city and the sox needing to win the trade to help with the fan base. On top of that I think trading Sale to the Cubs is different than trading Q now. Sale being the first move and basically announcing a rebuild, and sending the face of the team to the Cubs would have hurt a lot of fans at the time. Now a few months later, most fans on board with the direction, a trade with the cubs would go over a lot smoother in my mind.

They've completely changed his delivery from the windup, which was the root of most concern in terms of sticking as a starter or reliever. I was very surprised to see that.

As far as today, though, he threw a bunch of pitches. Deep counts. Still has some refining to do.

Moncada and Collins didn't do much with their at bats. A runner got a very easy steal off Collins, and I'll admit, he didn't look like a major league catcher back there. This is from the smallest of sample sizes, of course.

I think patience is in order. Collins hasn't played above A Ball. Moncada (outside of a cup of coffee with the Red Sox) has onlyy 44 games at Double A (where he will probably start this year), & no experience at TripleA.

I think the Cubs would do two of those three plus a couple lesser prospects, but not all three. I also think that as much as the Cubs would love Q, that there are other teams that match with the Sox better for a trade.

Oh - most definitely. These guys aren't going to help us win this year, even in the off chance they are called up.

For what it's worth, I don't think there's much distinction between level of play between AA and AAA. That's why you pretty commonly see guys get called up to the bigs from AA.

A few notes from attending the Sox/Rockies game yesterday.

Collins and Moncada were very patient at the plate. Saw lots of pitches - great to see.

The distinction between established major league pitchers and guys with high jersey numbers is staggering to see up close. The pace, mound presence, raw stuff was on a different level with Q and Gonzalez. Spencer Adams, who threw the day before, had that same "it" factor on the mound.

I can see why the Rockies aren't willing to package Brendan Rodgers in a Q deal. Had a Mike Trout like impact. Seemed like he was involved in every play when he came in.

Burdi made quick work of their lineup in the 9th, which was great to see. Huge disclaimer that may or may not matter to any of you. This kid works *slow*. As long as he gets outs, I couldn't care less, but it's grueling. Think Fernando Rodney without the antics.

Thanks for the update. I would love to make it out to Arizona one of these years and catch a day or 2 of camp.

And Burdi working that slow is hard to watch. I played with a guy like that. We called him the human rain delay. Hated playing in the field when he would pitch. That said it just gives me more time to run to the fridge and grab a drink and not miss any action now.

I agree on AA & AAA but only 44 games is a short time at any level. My concern on Moncada (even though I preach patience), it would be nice to see him put the ball in play.

Man, I hate the human rain delays. I cannot deal with that any longer. The playoffs this past season were brutal. Multiple times I would drift off and when I woke up several dreams later, there had not been a pitch thrown. The game could benefit so greatly from everyone pitching with an approach like Buehrle. It would be so much more watchable.

I hope that MLB actually makes some movement on the pace of play. They're trying to force the pitchers to throw the ball where it can be hit. I hope this doesn't simply result in more walks.

I'd be enthusiastic about forcing the pitchers to throw the ball reasonably quickly also.

Pedro Baez on the Dodgers is the worst. Jeff Sullivan wrote an entertaining article for fangraphs on just one nearly-two-minute sequence between pitches.

We will know soon enough, but MLB.com will have the Sox as a top 3 farm system. The release teams top 30 prospects in stages based on where each team is ranked. You can see info on the 27 other teams except the Sox, Yankees and Braves. My guess is the Sox rank 3rd among that group right now.

Moncada all the sudden is tearing the cover off the ball. Kopech strikes out 5 in two innings against Cubs. He gave up no runs & one hit. Rodon was really good in his first spring training start. 4 innings pitched, zero runs, 1 hit, 1 walk & 5 strike outs.

Lot of the young guys doing great things. And Anderson opting for financial security now could be huge for the sox in a few years. He will be a bargain for sure. That should time our just right when they need to start spending on potential free agents to fill in any gaps the next few trades don't fill.

A potential #WhiteSox #Astros deal would be centered around a package of both Frances Martes and Kyle Tucker. However, nothing close.

My gut tells me Houston is going to buckle, but it’s going to take more than Martes and Tucker. Those two are a *great* start though.
