Goofs aside, I'm having a blast with the various meta narratives this year.

The Good:
Moncada: K rate dropping and delivering on his promise in nearly every other realm. MLB Pipeline released their prospect rankings last week and he was back up to #1.

Kopech: 51 K's in 35 IP at AA Birmingham. Turned 21 two weeks ago. I'm looking for him to be the top pitching prospect in baseball according to most publications at the halfway point.

Dane Dunning: Had a comical line in Kannapolis (A). 1 ER over 4 starts. 33K 2 BB. A line drive off his pitching hand knocked him out of his last Winston Salem start - haven't heard much since, other than he's "fine"

Carson Fulmer: Should be up soon. He's been solid thus far in AAA. I noted after seeing him this spring that his delivery was completely overhauled and simplified, which was his main knock from scouts. His violent mechanics had most projecting him as a reliever only.

Micker Adolfo: Was a big time international signing at age 16. He's now 20 and putting it together. .314/.374/.448.

Alec Hansen: Has a ways to go with his command, but 4 legitimate + pitches and a giant frame bodes well for projection. 42 Ks over 42 IP in Kannapolis with a 2.95 ERA. Here's an awesome profile on him.

Zack Collins : Finally starting to hit. 3 HR this week. His line at Winston Salem is...something. .228/.392(!?!?)/.421.

Nicky Delmonico: A less lauded name with a weird backstory that's producing at a very high rate alongside Moncada. .293/.373./.457. He's going to be up at some point before September.

Sounds like we're in the driver's seat for Luis Robert as well. Jon Heyman said on Mully and Hanley the other morning that it would be a surprise if the Sox didn't land him, which was candid.

The Not Great:

Reynaldo Lopez: Dominant stuff, but clearly a reliever at this point. Averaging a ton of pitches and barely getting past 5 IP a start. Commands not there, and his delivery is an issue.

Lucas Giolito: I'm not sure what to say. The org is stressing patience and incremental improvement which would be fine if he were a 20 year old just getting his feet wet. 6.55 ERA, 19 walks and 36 strikeouts over 34 1/3 innings in his first seven starts.

And as far as the big club is concerned...my quick thoughts.

Officially apart of the Leury fan club.

Same for Davidson. He had to get in the water at some point, but it's a head scratcher that the primary concerns at the minor league level haven't killed him in the Majors? Sort of reminds me of when we brought Trayce Thompson up. It's great though!

Derek Holland is Mat Latos.

I'm borderline panicking regarding Tim Anderson.

I knew Collins would hit. I really like how many guys he has cut down from behind the plate. Good hitters can play anywhere, but having him stick at C would be yuge.

It's funny - the rate at which he's throwing out base stealers has been really, really good, but the resolute scouting opinion is that he needs to get out from behind there. He must be really bad at the receiving aspect.

I'll personally go with 60% Sox, 40% Cards. This article provides a nice summary.

Yes I have read pretty everything I can find and I feel we have the best shot and I have read that he has made a decision and will sign as early as tomorrow. I just want to see how everyone is feeling pretty much. Thanks.

Dan Hayes was saying he'd likely slot in #3 on our top 10 prospects list.

I hope he's not another Micker Adolfo.

It's a moot point since these kinds of deals are now going to be dead with the new CBA but it's amazing how much teams will spend on International Free Agents. The Red Sox spent 72.5 million on Rusney Castillo for crying out loud.

The White Sox just spent 25 million to get a guy who would probably have been drafted in the middle of the first round had he not been an International Free Agent.

I'd have to look back at trade deals, but that 25 mil for Robert is basicly paid for by the red sox. Didn't they send 30 mil with Moancada and his bonus structure.

I'm not sure what you mean? What does Moncada have to do with this signing? He received his bonus from the Red Sox which was contingent upon him signing a contract with them in 2015. They had to pay an additional penalty because they exceeded their slot limit. Why would they have sent money to the White Sox in the Sale trade?

They did get two international bonus slots from the Orioles:

The above move helped with today's signing.

According to this the Red Sox still owed him money Chicago would have taken on. Looks like 31 mil worth. So Chicago could have still gotten Robert today without that part of the Sale trade, but personally I find it hard to believe they pay Moancada 31 mil he had left and then go after Robert.

I stand corrected. My sincerest apologies since I was obviously wrong.

who needs Luis Robert when you have AVISAIL GARCIA
Every time I think he's finally coming back down to Earth, he has a game like this. He is still pretty young, maybe this time he actually has figured it out...

0.409 BABIP is not sustainable. He's getting lucky IMO.
