Similar emotions as when Sale got dealt. Sad to see him go, sad that we never sniffed contention with him.

Personally? EXTREMELY DISPLEASED WITH THE IDEA OF HIM IN A CUBS UNIFORM.

But that's a hell of a haul. Didn't think Cubs would part with Eloy and another top 100 piece. Good job Hahn.

Oh and we play them in a week or so. Scoping out the local caves to hide inside during that series. Barf.

Good thing you're in LA. Try being a Sox fan in Cub territory :tsk:

Similar thoughts to you. Good trade, sad to see him on Cubs, sorry we couldn't win with him.

According to mlb.com, the Sox now have the 1st, 8th, 11th, 23rd, 28th, 36th, 59th, 63rd, and 68th best prospects in the game. All hail Genghis Hahn!! :clappy:
Its amazing what he has done in short order. And with all the praise Hahn deserves, I still want to know, why the hell did you give up Tatis Jr for Shields. That would be one more top 100 guy in the system.

We don't talk about that deal here

So what is the plan for the sox now? Suck for another couple years as they get the young studs ready? How long till they get pulled up full time, and then how long until we're good again?

Most reports I've seen is 2019 or maybe 2020 until they can expect to be competitive with these young guys, then their growth determines how far they go.

We should see Moncado this year, Kopech maybe next year, Jiminez possibly 2019?? Luis Robert 2019-2020

Other pitchers will start sprinkling in the next two years.

BTW, what happened with your post count? I noticed it started over? Hope I'm not too forward in asking.

I got banned twice.

Taking the Cubs as a point of comparison... 2012 Cubs was the first year of their rebuild and 2017 is the year one for the Sox.

The 2017 Sox are WAY WAY ahead of where the Cubs were in 2012. The Sox haven't even had their first draft in the rebuild yet. They still have some vets they haven't sold off yet. They already have the top farm system in baseball and they're just going to be adding more talent to it over the next 6 months or so.

And the Sox are nowhere near the cratered organization the Cubs were. In addition to players, the Cubs had to physically rebuild their facilities. Not just Wrigley, but a number of their minor league parks, their Dominican academy, their spring training/AZ Fall League facility. Sox management gets to focus on the on-the field product and don't have to worry about the field itself.

Point being, the Cubs had far more work to do than the Sox at the same point in time. So I don't think it's a stretch to expect the Sox to be at least a year ahead of the Cubs' timeline. Meaning you should start seeing some of the more advanced players bubbling up in 2018 and start seeing results on the field in 2019.

Just taking the temperature...

Can we all agree the rebuild/tank job is way more interesting and fun to follow than say, the crude conglomerate of veterans Kenny Williams had been smashing together and expecting to contend?

As bad as we are, it's been fun to watch guys like Yolmer, Engel, Davidson etc get their shots, as well as following the growth down on the farm. I know the fanbase as a whole was justifiably apprehensive about embracing what would likely be an awful big league product for the next couple years, but I haven't had this much fun following the franchise as a whole in a while.

Agree. Happy Kenny is not calling these shots. Tired of being just " good enough" to miss the playoffs, be middle of pack, poor draft position, poor trades etc.

Looking forward to putting a good team out there, solid in all aspects, not just the long ball

Hopefully it happens. Good plan, but as we all know in baseball, the best laid plans of mice and men . . .

Middle of the pack is the worst place to be in pro sports. It's an abyss of mediocrity. This is also why I was pissed at the bulls last year. Much happier with the "build from scratch" route. But the sox, jeez, they are loaded with young studs.

Admidst the optimism, Zack Burdi to have TJ surgery. Not ideal!

I know things gotta break right for the human race to exist past the semi-immediate future, but the line for 2020 World Series tickets starts behind me

LOL Pierzynski.

I have an autographed photo of the dropped third strike in the WS hanging in my basement. What an unbelievable play.

Sox, apparently don't know how to tank, they are just winning too many games (LOL) As of 6/17, they are only 4 1/2 games out of first & second in the Central in run differential. Avi continues to tear the cover off the ball, & Jose is getting real hot too.

This didn't age well. :D

Sox now 2 games out of the #2 pick, 6 games out of the #1 pick. Perfect tank job so far.

I'm getting concerned about Tim Anderson. He's been really bad this year. Offensively and defensively.

Makes me think the Sox rushed him up to the big leagues. Not sure we can pencil him in at SS right now. Hopefully he's not another Gordon Beckham.

Ugh, painful yesterday - no outs, Davidson on 2B, Moncada on 1B. TA bunts it right to Maeda for a 1-5-3 DP. :tsk:

Ill wait and see on Timmy still. I cant remember for sure, but I thought Eaton had a bum start to the season after he locked down his deal. Pressure of the new contract, and lineup in flux, could be a lot of things. I know he is going to have time to work it out that's for sure.

Was at Moncada debut yesterday and the place was pretty packed and lots of excitement. The team on the field is terrible but most people are excited about the long term goal. As this year goes on I am really get excited and anxious to see the following guys get better and become successful.

Rodon- he looks terrible right now but is important he becomes a good pitcher in the future.

Anderson- I am not sold on him. He has to have better plate discipline. He has all the tools to be a good defender.

Moncada- obvious reasons

Avi- I have always been a fan but this year he's giving me a reason to believe

Engel- if the kid can be a 270 hitter he will be an asset as he is a really good defensive player.
