I am VERY impressed with AJ. The road hasn't always been the smoothest or the easiest, but he just keeps working on his game. This guy really impresses me. Don't know what his major is, but if I had a job opening in his field, I would hire him in a second. He's all heart.
The professors in his field have said the same thing....AJ is gon be alright. Basketball or Corporate America....he will be ready. I have made sure of that!

I think what we will (hope) see is that the players being motivated by the coach will need not happen any longer.

Jordan is a consummate player, will be a coach one day pretty sure. Bought in from day one.

Frazier knows where he can lead this team with the other guards and expectations for him.
:thumb:
Williams will be the "blow" up player this year, showed signs last year, offensively wont defer as much imo.

Kipper will get the chance to show maturity and step up as leader. He needs the hard !!! coaching to get the best out of himself.

All the new players will be eager to show what they can do, automatically this will translate in hunger and lack of need for motivation like the coach had to do over and over this past year.

Really looking forward to this year.

Ayo, Griffin, Kane, Giorgi, and 3 more yet....:chief: + new uni's thank god!

The team would have been much better next season had Finke, Black, Smith & Lucas stayed. The culture thing has been overblown.

I agree the team needs a lot more talent and I only see Ayo as an improvement over what is leaving.

Agree in short term but not long term. Kane is an important piece and will have a larger affect than Black in the future. TeJon is also a loss but replaceable and the rest are not factors IMO.

A little off topic, but we had a lot of discussion about Augie this off season. Just a couple of hours ago...

https://twitter.com/twitter/statuses/979786021100490752

Checked his stats and saw that Augie is averaging 9 points and 7 rebounds a game this year. Very similar to his career numbers of 10 and 8 at Illinois.

From the video, it looked like Augie's team was playing a team of referees. Gotta love the Euroleague. :D

They played against one of the best teams in Euroleague, Greek Olympiacos. Augie is still playing well, still in Euroleague, although his team's Euroleague journey will finish next week. They have 1 game left and they will not make the top-8 to move into the next round.

It's a crapshoot, but to believe that holding on to the same team that won 4 conference games the year prior is not a recipe for success.

"If player X can learn to shoot, and player Y can grow 3 inches, and player Z can learn to jump, we will be so much better" is an argument just pining for new players, when you get the root of it all.

Ayo
Frazier
Damonte/Aj
Kipper
Ebo

I still think and hope damonte starts

Still believe we need more size to guard the four and let Kipper guard the three.

Defensively
Ebo > Finke
Kipper ~ Black
DaMonte ~ Alstork
Frazier > Frazier
Ayo > Smith

Still have a problem with post defense, but scoring probably improved even without Black. Think AJ as a starter is more likely to save DaMonte to back up Ayo and Trent.

Regardless of the strange mishaps from Damonte last year his basketball IQ is off the charts, he will start unless AJ seems to have a spark again.

Need a grad transfer to cover Black's position. Liddell is future and have possible other candidates in incoming class but next season is a crap shoot without a proven big for that position. Suspect staff is working the problem.
