I ran across a way too early ranking of the BIG for next year. I know it is to be taken with a whole heaping of salt. The writer picks us 11th, interestingly, ahead of Ohio State but behind Northwestern which I think is wrong.

11 seems about right. Here’s hoping we exceed expectations and make tournament. Will turn on team cohesion, player development, and getting some solid play from a couple of bigs.

Ya know. I have this strange affinity for matic and I can’t figure out why. In a much earlier post somewhere, I put that he didn’t have the skills. I’m not sure if that’s true or if the game was just moving way, way, way too fast for him to ever show what he can truly do (along with all the other major adjustments he was making last year). I just see his athleticism as a separating factor if it ever all comes together.

That said I’d trade him for Okoro without blinking.

Northwestern added one of the most coveted 5th year transfers yesterday, Ryan Taylor of Evansville, big time scorer. That was after this report was published. They will be improved.

Don't they lose Scottie Lindsey AND Bryant McIntosh?

Great add for NU, but without McIntosh I have hard time seeing how they would be better. Their roster is poorly constructed.

NW moving "home" games back to Welsh-Ryan is a huge plus for them. Tough to play all your home games at a neutral site.

NW is pretty solid at everything but the point at the moment. I think they'll be a bubble team. If someone steps up to distribute the ball, they'll make some noise in the conference.

If Trent Frazier gets better his 2nd year as does Damonte I think that could really depend on how good we our in 2018-2019. Another factor is how much can Ayo and Feliz contribute. I feel like expectations are really high for Ayo. Our main problem will be our frontcourt with Black and Finke gone. Kipper and Eboigbodin will really need to work on defense.

Ayo-DaMonte-Frazier-Kipper-Kane

This team is going to look good.
Feliz-Jones-Jordan-Ebo coming off the bench first and often. I think Underwood will give PT to one more player. I don't know who. Kane changes everything.
I would expect starters will depend on D and players' system knowledge/development. Would not be surprised to see some of the names on the starter list flipped early in season based on D ability.

I really expect Feliz to start at the point. If he was being brought in as a backup, they would have waited out the Ramey recruitment. You don’t give up on Ramey for a backup guard.

As for center, I like Kane’s potential, but I think that position will be someone who isn’t on the team yet.

You think Trent off the bench for 6th man energy and firepower? Ayo off the bench? All three start together?

I think it depends on how likely you think Ramey is to commit and how much you need a backup.

I don’t have any doubt they intend for him to play a significant role, but that might mean 20-25 minutes off the bench.

Feliz, Frazier, Ayo, Nichols, TBD (likely someone not on roster yet)

If this is our starting lineup we may have something to get excited about.

BU used 10 different starting combinations last year. I see no reason with all the new athletes some kind of similar number.

Agree. I’m sure starting line ups will change considerably over the course of the year. Also think more likely than not that generally only two of Ayo Trent and Feliz will start and one will play major minutes off bench.

I would bet on the starting five for game 1 being Frazier-Ayo-DaMonte-Kipper-Ebo

Which is too small, but the rest of the bigs need a lot of development.

You can see why we're after a proper 4 who can score.
