2020-21 Illini Men's Golf

They heard me! Two shots behind Vanderbilt with several holes to play.
Let's close it out boys. Pretty amazing performance. The weather in CU leading up to this event was horrid with windchills in single digits and below. By contrast, we are playing a bunch of teams who have been able to be outdoors for most of the winter. Some of them even played a fall season.

one back!

I hear you BRucks with the weather but we have been overcoming that for years to some degree. Small has figured out how to compete.

frankly we have secured at least a top 4, to start the week we would've taking that

#55
3 way tie for the lead. Florida is charging

#56
ha, florida just gave back like 8 strokes, one shot lead for the illini

Kinda funny we were the only non-southern school in the field and we go and win the tourney!

I remember Feagles saying one reason he came to Illinois was to get used to playing in bad weather. Sharp guy.

I was looking at scores from the final round. What a great moment for that eagle by Adrien on #17. Congrats to the whole team.

Yes it was huge, and the finish as a whole was massive. Those final three holes were eating everyones lunch. Only Tennessee and us were even on those three holes, the rest over par and Florida was +14. These two wins are massive and are gonna land Illinois in the top 5 I believe for the foreseeable future. got the Louisiana Rajun Cajun in a couple weeks, we have been in this before and there is always a solid field. Not as good as this last one but solid. For those that are new to college golf spectating you can't expect to win every tourney and not winning wont effect you as much as in other sports. Just got to play well. That being said, if they win again they may be ranked the top team in the nation. Depends on the field, Texas teams have been in this before and they are very good, if anybody can find the field post it here please, I've been looking to no avail.

Emailed Jackie at Illinois golf office re: field. She's great about getting back to me. Will advise.

Funny: even Ragin Cajun website didn't say a thing (as far as I could tell) about the tournament other than it's scheduled.

The field has not been officially announced, according to Illinois golf office.

Illinois has won this event four or five times over the last several years but finished seven shots behind winner McNeese State! in 2019. (2020 event was cancelled, of course).

Can't take any event for granted.

Finally! The field for LA Classics: Lousiana, Illinois, Illinois State, MO-KC, UL-Monroe, McNeese State, Michigan, North Texas, Oral Roberts, Rice, Sam Houston, SIU, Texas State, UTEP, UTSA.

Check out Ragin' Cajuns website or Golfstat for more info

Don't mean to jinx, but this could be another win for Illini. Beware of McNeese State (not kidding).

Just play well, Illini. Good luck.

Honestly will probably be the softest field of the year, but still have to play well as any college can have a good tourney.

On the Illinois website they are showing an ESPN+ link to watch this on, which is super rare. Too bad I don't have ESPN+....

yeah they are crushing it, don't know who is more for real this squad or the Bball team. both could legitimately win a National Championship. (I guess basketball is a bit more legit)

I just noticed that Gillard is no longer on the team. I had high hopes for him. When did he leave? Where did he go I see that Chopra is now listed on Nortwestern's roster though he has yet to play. Must have joined in the spring.
