2020-21 Illini Men's Golf

An ironic twist. The two Illini who played as individuals had our two lowest scores which, of course, didn't count toward the team score.

I'm pretty sure I was mistaken about ties.

Texas A&M and Oklahoma tied in the Aggie Classic yesterday, and A&M won on the first playoff hole, according to Golfstat.

We have a very deep team this year which will be a advantage if we make it to the NCAA match play. I think this is Small’s most consistent team over the past 10 years.

Does anyone know what determines the five-man team? Is it simply the lowest scoring averages or are other things at play?

It seems logical and fair that you go with the five lowest averages. But what do I know.
Thanks.

If you want some college golf on TV, check out Western Intercollegiate at 6 p.m. central on Golf Channel. Good field.

Consistent? Hope so. I think (hope) Illinois will make it to the NCAA Championship.
But I prefer the Guthrie, Pieters, Detry, Danielson, Meyer, Hardy et al era over the past 10 years

Coaches choice, plain and simple.

Each team has a ladder system for the most part, on my team I take the top 4 averages to every tourney and then my next two are coaches choice. (In high school we often play 6 count 4).

Think Illinois will make the NCAA Championships? This is one of the best teams in the nation, even if they collapse down the stretch, which they wont, they have already done more then enough to get in. They have yet to finish outside the top 5 in a match and have 3 wins. This is a very good team.

just putting this out there, still a ways to go and this is a shortened season so that is going to affect the record books. But both Feags and Adrien are both lower the school record for single season averages. Jerry is right behind them. So that is 3 players averaging in the low 70s. Shortened season but still, very good.

Tough course. They are fine where they are sitting. Decent chance no team finishes under par this morning.

Making a move in the middle of the second round. Right now we lead the field by four stroke. Some rain on the course which is typically good for our guys.

Really showed their class down the stretch there, birdies late and -3 as team to really open up some distance, contributions from everybody so far through 2 rounds.

The course is showing its teeth again as only two teams are under par today. We are still holding a 9 stroke lead as we have 4 of the top 10 scorers.

Hang in there, Illini. Checked weather in Columbus: a little cool, moderate wind, sunny. The course must be a doozy.

Lead down to 2. Penn State closing in. Would be completely out of nowhere for them to pull this off. Confident the Illini will finish it off.

It’s going to be interesting to see who the 5th man ends up being as the season winds down. Kuhl, Hunt, Lang and O’Reilly have all had their moments.
