No Josh doesn't have to consider this and he won't. You want to hire a coach who is radioactive, kicks players, and shows poor judgement.

You are off your meds, aren't you.
I'm by no means in favor of this crazy idea, but let's not kid ourselves, when Meyer wants to coach college FB again he's going to land a high profile gig, poor judgment or not

I mean that’s really the question right?

I think he’s seriously damaged his credibility with players, recruits and assistants after this, and just seems like he’s less and less capable of the pressures of big time football even on a physical level.

What he should do is shift into the media world, where he’s the best I’ve ever seen at breaking down football in a digestible way for the fan audience. But I suspect he won’t.

That’s why I mentioned Nebraska. Both sides are desperate damaged goods willing to overlook the pile of red flags in hopes that the other side can regain some of their old magic. It could work! It probably won’t.

Urban Meyer?

Can it be Saturday? This board desperately needs a game to talk about.

Crazy idea, but what if we went for Urban Meyer? I think Josh has to at least consider it. Maybe not move or even make a call, but Urban getting fired from Jags, being toxic for most programs at this time, wouldn't it be a time that our school might actually be an attractive position for him? Gets back to the B1G, on the weaker side of the B1G. We get a guy who made college football seem easy, perennial national championship competing team, great recruiter and yes, we get a bit of a reputation hit, will likely pay out the wazoo to break Brett's contract...but we immediately become a contender. Maybe not 22, but 23 for sure. I know, crazy, but there's some logic there...some...
You do realize that the guy that just fired Meyer is one of Illinois’ biggest donors, don’t you?

Maybe he can join the Mannings on MNF

Sad day. The stories out of Jacksonville recently have been pure comedy gold. To paraphrase Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction, “It was worth hiring Urban for an NFL job just so we could’ve had the joy of firing him.”

We selected BB in spite of all of his problems. I am not a Meyer fan but, I can see a lot of what he might bring to the program. One thing though, these college coaches need to stop treating pros like they are little children. I am sure that most here don't want their boss up in their face screaming all of the time.

I'll stay with CBB now. I think he will elevate our program to a fairly high level. If he was available during the CBB coaching search, I would have at least kicked the tires. He's a proven winner in a profession and a sport with alot of meatheads and nefarious types, coaches and players alike. Their transgressions are simply made in the public eye. I once worked with a guy who seemed like a solid citizen. Good family man by all appearances. He was part of our golf foursome on Saturday morning. One Saturday he didn't show. No one knew why. We later learned he was picked up in the early morning hours by the police. Turns out he was a sexual predator. Trolled for and met young girls through the internet. Guy was 46 years old. We were dumbfounded. You know your values and those of a relatively small circle of friends. Beyond that...

Meyer is a wretched human being. That won't stop him from getting a CFB job pretty much as soon as he wants it. He's not a high level x/o guy but is a stellar recruiter. As long as you don't mind gang members and pedophiles from being on your team along with sundry other career criminals.
If Nebby could stomach him he'd certainly elevate the program on the field before he crashed and burned. Off the field would be likely a much different story.
