I believe USA Today’s latest mock (#5.0 and appears to be by Scott Gleeson) has Houston taking Ayo at #23 and Jared Butler at #24.
That would be a heck of a haul for Houston in terms of seasoned young players ready to play. They may take higher risks picks since they are restarting.

I saw it this morning here. I assume this is the one that was referenced by the original poster

Like you, I've pretty much only seen first round projections otherwise.
I don’t really go looking for mock drafts, so not sure if the ones I see are any good but a few weeks ago I saw multiple mocks with Ayo in 2nd round. In fact it seemed I was seeing those more than I was seeing ones with Ayo in first. (Don’t remember who they were by so can’t link.). But since I’ve been seeing that Ayo has been working out for teams, now seeing him back in first round more often. Hope that is where he goes.

IDK- Not sure Talen Horton-Tucker is his favorite player.
Lakers GM LeBron James has stated multiple times how much he likes THT....he even “copied THT’s shot” one time. Sounds like THT would be one of the last ones on the team to get cut or traded by LeBron....I wonder if THT could talk the Lakers out of drafting Ayo?
I’m not a Lakers fan at all but they might be my new favorite team if Ayo went there....still hoping he goes to the Bulls

I've thought this fit would be good for awhile, but man, I hope Ayo ends up on the Bucks (assuming Chicago is probably out of the cards). Great franchise and great players/people, they need another guy with his skillset, and I see his ideal outcome as a combination of Jrue and Middleton. Would love to see him get the opportunity to learn from them and contribute to a good home-grown team. Plus they're close enough to catch a few games too.

Is there an accurate mock draft out there (accurate as measured by previous draft years)?

I heard that Pelinka, Lebron, and the Lakers brass are trying to get in with the Irvins and will likely choose Ayo and let THT walk. Also heard the rumor that Mike Irvin might replace Kidd as a Lakers assistant coach.
Also, I heard because the Lakers are a blue blood NBA team they told Ayo they think he can make 7 figures on his NIL. Tough to compete with that.

You left out Kidd coming here to be Assistant to the Head Coach.

You think he’s definitely going higher?
100%. There's some recent buzz he may slide to 3, but I would be extremely surprised if he goes after that. I haven't seen anywhere where he slides to 4. If he does, then Toronto is luckier than even the Pistons and whoever is drafting 3rd ought to be fired.

High Second round has worked out pretty good for Jalen Brunson so far. He will get a big payday soon.
There's obviously higher risk, but if you end up playing well, second round can be better financially than low first. See THT. He's about to get a really nice payday after just 2 years, whereas first rounders are tied to their rookie contracts for 4 years. The earlier you start that 2nd contract, the better.

Pretty certain the USA Today mock draft I saw yesterday had Mobley going 4 also. No idea if the guy who did it knows anything or not.

I definitely think he’s good enough to go 2 or 3 and he’d be well worth the pick. But I think NBA teams tend to value guards over bigs and there are three really good goods at the top of the draft too. He’d give the Cavs the option to trade Jarret Allen instead of paying him too.Edit: that’s if he does go third

Very true. And it's the draft -- the unexpected (and sometimes stupid) always happens. Exhibit A: Luka dropping to 3 (though that's obviously way more egregious -- the guys being mocked here both seem like they'll be studs, especially Suggs). But hey, that's what makes the draft so much fun! I'm just surprised b/c the buzz I had heard a week ago was in the opposite direction: people thinking that Mobley perhaps ought to be the first pick. Personally, I don't understand why teams would pass on him. We've had two years in a row where a super mobile and lengthy two-way big played a massive role bringing home a chip. I get that the league is dominated by guards/wings these days, but if you have one of those almost wing-like bigs it gives you so much flexibility everywhere else on your roster.

Sharife Cooper will be an interesting pick and potential gauge for AC draft next year... unbiased and like AC better but sharife passing skills and limited shooting skills are an interesting parallel with a AC
