2026 NFL Draft Thread

I heard former GM Bill Polian on XM this morning gushing about Luke . He’s sure Luke is getting picked today . Scouts notice players that thrive on late game pressure and deliver .

Eh, I don't know how much I'd trust Polian nowadays.

Plus Luke is really only going to benefit if he gets drafted by a team with a passing offense that gets the ball out quick.

Here's the NFL.com draft analysis on Elliott:

Draft Projection
Round 5

Overview
Big, productive inside linebacker lacking the athletic traits to make enough plays on the next level. Elliott has earned praise for his exceptional work ethic and football character. His instincts and reaction time are average, though. He can be heavy-handed when taking on blocks and his execution is inconsistent. His pursuit speed to the sideline is too heavy-footed in pass coverage and as an open-field tackler. His pathway will need to be as a physical thumper who can star on special teams.

Strengths
High-end football character and trains like a pro at all times.
Revved up his production in second season at ASU.
Hands are heavy when he throws them with purpose at blockers.
Drifts downhill to help squeeze the run lane.
Makes himself big and wide as a wrap-up tackler.

Weaknesses
Poor speed leaves little margin for error in diagnosis.
Must improve at properly leveraging his run fits.
Lacks short-area quickness and reactive athleticism.
Slow to disengage from the block.
Can be exploited in the passing game.

Not sure why he hasn’t gone yet. I think the Steelers made a mistake going for Drew
They did (not saying Altmeyer should have been picked that high). Pittsburgh has recent history of thinking they can take an underachieving QB and fix him (see Pickett, Kenny, Trubisky, Mitchell, and Fields, Justin)

Here's the NFL.com draft analysis on Davis:

Draft Projection
Rounds 6-7

Overview
Durable four-year starter with ideal size and length who needs to become more of an impediment on each snap. Davis possesses good play strength but issues with footwork and body control limit his consistency in sustaining blocks. He has adequate lateral/second-level range for move blocks and surprising drive power when he finishes his block. Davis has had some impressive reps against pro-caliber rushers over his last two seasons, but developing better timing, accuracy and placement with his hands will be critical as he competes for a role as an NFL swing tackle.

Strengths
Carries good size with massive wingspan and big hands.
Good timing and consistency on his pin-and-climb combos.
Power to torque and turn defender out of run gaps.
Drives feet and looks to finish blocks when he has the advantage.
Uses vertical sets with awareness to the B-gap against T/E twists.
Patience and independent hands allow him to gather spin counters.
Good athleticism to mirror inside moves and find targets in space on screens.

Weaknesses
Leads with his helmet and upper body far too often.
Body control and contact balance are below average.
Poor hand placement limits block sustain/consistency in both phases.
Opens outside hip way too early against speed rushers.
Allows rushers into his chest without popping and gathering.
Lethargic hands allow rushers to counter and eliminate the punch.
