They are the first 5They are the last 4 in bracket matrix and we are the last 6.
They were behind New Mexico, Utah State, San Diego State and about tied with Boise State. That’s a bid stealer. They’d only be a bid stealer if Boise still makes it. Mountain west was always a 2 bid league but if it becomes 3 then that’s where they stole an at large
Cincy used to host early round games in what was the Riverfront Coliseum (now I'm sure named something else... drove by it last October and the arena is still there.) We're talking late '70s through the '80s. Can't recall it doing so in the past 25 yrs at least.
Colorado State was not getting in without winning tourney (as assumed), and since New Mexico is seen as a lock for tourney, they now slide into one of the at large spots. This reduces an available at large spot. Therefore, CSU is a bid stealer by definition, since they were not in position to get an at large bid. They’d only be a bid stealer if Boise still makes it. Back when Cincinnati did host, I believe it was the site of one of our tournament heartbreaks of long ago, Villanova '88.Cleveland. I can't recall Cincy hosting early round games, maybe ever for as long as I've watched college basketball.
That’s a good point. Well said.Colorado State was not getting in without winning tourney (as assumed), and since New Mexico is seen as a lock for tourney, they now slide into one of the at large spots. That is possible. We will find out in an hour or so. Either way, teams on the bubble did not like CSU winning, especially those that are in the "last 4 in"/"first 4 out" territory in most bracket projections (i.e., schools like UNC, Boise, IU, Texas, Xavier, etc.).That’s a good point. Well said.
But did they simply swap spots with Boise. In other words if Boise won they are in, did CSU now take that spot and kick Boise out?
don't see it. at best probably 4th or 5th. we'll be a 7 seed.IMO it could very well come down to us vs these six teams: UCLA, Marquette, Saint Mary's, Gonzaga, Kansas, Mizzou. If maybe not first, could we be at least second n that grouping
Agree - the simplest for them was NM winning it allThat is possible. We will find out in an hour or so. For 1st round games can how do tickets normally work. Do you have to buy tickets both days or is it broken into sessionsSpeaking of first round sites, has anyone else looked at the 2026 sites? I was just curious and looking ahead. I noticed St Louis is the only first round site anywhere close to the Midwest. That seems strange. Bad planning by the NCAA? Anyways season isn't over just found it odd.
