I said it back on Sunday. There was one team that had no business being in this tournament and that team is Virginia. They have proven just that in one half. Nobody can say that the eye test showed Virginia to be a better team than Indiana St or St John's.

The fact that we have to be subjected to this horrific offensive team who is going to likely lose by 20 pts+ goes to show that the tourney committee got this one wrong. Tony Bennett has a lifetime coaching pass given the national title he got but if I'm Virginia's AD, I'd tell Bennett to start recruiting better because besides for the national title run, it has been 4 disappointing tournament appearances in the last 5 appearances

Disgrace that Virginia was an at large team. Eye test and metrics say not worthy. Said it before the game but repeating it watching this playin game

This. If I was an AD, especially for a major program, and my mbb coach said heck no, we're turning our nose up at the NIT...I'd fire them.

That is taking revenue from the school, advertising opportunities, NIL opportunities...

Not to mention more practices, opportunities for asst coaches and bench players to develop, and even an NIT Championship can be used in recruiting.

Ridiculous.
It's also just not the type of program I'd want to run. If the kids don't want to play in the NIT then you have a team full of losers.

If you're upset that you lost on the bubble then go win the NIT and show everyone you deserved to be in.

Thanks to all who have commented eloquently on how unbelievably hideous UVA's offense is, so I don't have to. Its football team could score more in a half.

Also, props to the Big Red for hanging in Columbus to the wire. Seemed that if Gray hadn't picked up that bizarre T with ~ 3 mins left they might well have won.
Yep, can confirm. Went to our 2021 FB game in Charlottesville, they were up 14-0 before I got through the gates and to my seat.🤮

TBF, I saw VT eviscerate them last November in C'ville and it took them four quarters to score 14. So the mean appears to be 14 in two quarters!

Virginia looks awful, but there are a lot of pundits who think that the Mountain West got screwed with seeding. San Diego State was the only one to get some love, but that seems to be a carryover from last year.
The Mountain West is a good conference. They beat up on one another but yes, I'd say a few of the teams were underseeded. I personally like New Mexico, Utah St, and San Diego St. to make some runs in this tourney. Colorado St has good talent and I wouldn't be surprised if they take Texas down.

New Mexico has a 3 headed monster at guard and has depth too. But then again, not too sure on the man coaching the team. Richard Pitino has never struck me as being a great coach. So, if there's one thing holding them back, it might be the coach

Man, if I was an Indiana St. fan I'd be writing letters to this committee. UVA has zero business in this tournament.

And just a note, UVA finished third in the ACC. This supposed basketball powerhouse conference with 15 teams should have had only 3 teams in the tourney. Instead, they get massively lucky with 5. If this was the B1G, we'd never hear the end of it.
These are a few of my favorite things:

1.) The Rise of Illinois
2.) The Demise of Michigan
3.) The Demise of Ohio State
4.) The Demise of Kentucky
5.) The Demise of the ACC collectively:
* (Man, I sure don’t miss people like Bilas, going on and on and on…about the ACC this…and the ACC that…)

Kinda crappy times overall(society/the world at large)…but it sure is a good time to be an Illini fan; who hates the aforementioned programs. Good times, indeed.

This game reminds me of how badly Virginia got whipped by Virginia Tech last month. I believe the final score of that game was 69-41. Jacob Groves needs to stop shooting the basketball. He doesn't have it tonight

If I may… let’s also add the Indiana demise, the retention of Woodson and all that entails.
