Meanwhile, in the Women's tournament:View attachment 16356

The level of disparity between the top...10? women's teams and everything else is just crazy right now. Combine that with the protected seeds playing at home, and you get games like this.
Top 10? You’re looking at the number 1 team and a team that’s only in the tournament because they play in a small conference. Howard is ranked 247 in the women’s NET rankings. Is there much difference in a 44 point blowout like this and nova beating Oklahoma by 44 in 2016 (95-51)? Might look worse because of the % more points, but blowouts happen

The discrepancy between the #1 team and the #250 team in women's basketball is greater than the difference between #1 and #250 in men's basketball, because the talent pool is so concentrated in women's basketball to the top 10 teams right now.

A lot of talk about no Championship for the Big 10 since MSU in 2000.

Since that time, the Big 10 and ACC are tied with the most Final Four appearances - 14 each. Both with 6 different schools reaching the Final Four. Of course, 2 of those 14 ACC appearances were by Maryland, who are now in the Big 10.

The Big East is next with 12 Final Four appearances by 5 different schools.

The Big 12 and SEC have 10 appearances each by 6 and 5 different schools respectively.

The PAC 12 has 7 appearances by 3 different schools.

CUSA has 3 appearances by 3 schools, none of whom are still in that conference.

The Colonial, Horizon, Missouri Valley, American and WCC have 2 each.

The point is, the Big 10 has acquitted itself fine since the last time it won a championship. Three of their finals appearances ended in 5, 5 and 6 point losses that could have gone the other way.

I think the most likely cause of the championship drought is bad luck.

And another thing to note is that 13 of those 20 were won by just five teams. There is a lot to be said for having experienced the big stage whether it be the players themselves or the coaches being able to prepare their teams on what to expect. It has nothing to do with when the conference tournament is played, the B10 beating themselves up during the regular season or officiating which all inexplicably seem to be given as excuses here.

It takes talent, experience and a little bit luck, in that order.

Dunk City. That FGC team was so much fun to watch in the tournament.
As was his wife...

According to that analytics page someone posted earlier, the very bottom teams have held form and lost. Chattanooga is among those bottom feeders. Hope the form holds.

Based on what, a 44 point blowout? You do realize the 44 point blowout I brought up was a final 4 game with two top 10 teams right? That would suggest a MASSIVE gap by the time you get to number 250 in mens…

1. The game wasn't over.
2. The game was 44-4 at the half. 44-4 is different than 95-51, just on the scale. South Carolina was able to do whatever they wanted. Heck, they shot 35% in the first half and were winning by 40, because Howard had no chance to get a rebound.
3. You're either being obtuse here or arguing for arguing's sake, there's no point in continuing this further if you are blindly ignoring the power structure in the women's college game compared to the men's college game in modern times.

This is one of our "excellent" B1G ref crews in the Tex VT game, right? OMG. Too many bad calls
