*looks at WKU-Marquette score*

*remembers that Kolek was injured, maybe that's the reason*

*sees Kolek is playing and is 5-6 with 13 points*

The...rest of Marquette remembers they have a game today, right?

B1G is 3-0 going into the later afternoon/evening sessions. If Wisconsin avoids an "upset" to a very good JMU team, the B1G has a very good chance of going 6-0 in the first round (I really like Nebraska over Texas A&M).
Don’t forget —— B1G has not lost in the NIT either

FAU was another weird situation in the tourney, a team that had one good weekend last year (remember, the first two rounds they beat Memphis and FDU), parlayed that into a ton of clout this fall, had one good win and one close loss (Arizona and Illinois), then finished 3rd in a weak American conference where the regular season champ didn't sniff a bid and the tournament champ was overseeded as a 12.

They had the profile of a bubble team that got an 8 seed, then lost to a 9 seed that was missing 40% of their scoring.

This is the FAU team that returned 8 of 9 top players from the Final Four run last year?!
In case you needed any more evidence the results of a single elimination tournament aren't the be all end all for assessing a team

so i guess we should not put too much hope in Stetson to help out our brackets? (down 17 in first 8 min)

guess that means Bouie has to go unconscious on Sunday.....

So that "New Mexico is actually good and should have gotten something better than an 11 seed" storyline is on life support.
I think it was more "Clemson hasn't been a good team in a month and didn't deserve a 6 seed, so New Mexico should be the better team in this matchup".

Granted, in a one and done, the better team doesn't always win, but New Mexico has not shown up thus far.

They were an 8 & lost in overtime to a 9.
I don’t think that’s a remarkable failure.
They caught fire last March. That run isn’t really representative of their larger body of work.
Last year they were a 9 seed that won the CUSA tournament and caught a huge break when Purdue lost so they could walk to the Sweet 16. That sweet 16 they played really well and squeaked by 2 teams.

This year they effectively were the same team they were for 5 months last year instead of the team they were for one weekend last year.
