I viewed Arizona as the best team we played all year closely followed by Purdue. Houston beat Arizona hands down. No way should they had been a 5 seed. You dont beat 1 and 4 seed by double digits and control the game like they do as a 5 seed
Haha man, looks a lot like my bracket, sans MichiganUmmmmmmm
It literally made no sense. Their net ranking was 3.... they won their conference and the tournament. If the ncaa wanted us to have a tough bracket then just give us a lower seed.I viewed Arizona as the best team we played all year closely followed by Purdue. Houston beat Arizona hands down. Given tonight's events, I think I might have figured out why we have underperformed in the last two tournaments. Could you perhaps start rooting for someone other than the Illini? It’s all about my bracket (and ruining on people’s brackets in my pool), so tonight I’m rooting for:
Gonzaga
Texas Tech
Arizona
Michigan
And tomorrow I’ll be rooting for;
UCLA
St Peter’s
Kansas
Miami (game actually won’t impact my pool, but I like Laranaga)

Dook is going to get every close call from here on out, aren’t they?

Houston never trailed
...against a 1-seed.
Yeah, they use the NET to rank the quality of your wins and losses, so your opponents' NET matters more than your own. Houston did end up with one Quad 1 win, but still a bad Quad 1 record (1-4). They did also go 10-1 in Quad 2, with no Quad 3 or 4 losses. Based on the Quad 2 record I do think they could have been seeded higher. I also think it's probably time for the selection committee to add efficiency based ratings into the equation (not as the whole equation, but certainly as a part of it).Didn’t the committee say they don’t really use the NET ranking? Houston had zero quad 1 wins. That’s why they were a 5.

We're evidently the NCAA canary in the coalmine.Yeah, they use the NET to rank the quality of your wins and losses, so your opponents' NET matters more than your own. Lol. What's up with the "you"? YOU have no idea what you are talking about. Have some respect. I am a UofI grad. And a fan. Probably before you were born. Crawl back under your rock. You guys and your defense of Gonzaga is getting old man. I don't care how many wins they have in the tournament. They don't hang banners and give out trophies for that. WIN A TITLE!! Do something besides having everyone pick you to do something every tournament and flame out. Sick of hearing how great of a program you have and you have nothing to show for besides collecting a bunch of wins a weak conference, get a high seed in the tournament and come up small.
And that is why except for an annual NCAA tourney pool, I don’t bet on sports. Well at least now I can cheer for whatever teams I want and not those I picked.Everybody lock in your bets on:
UNC
Purdue
Providence
Iowa St
It’s the problem with non power 5 conferences. If you miss your opportunity in the non conference you are not going to get it later on. My biggest issue with quad 1 wins is it doesn’t take into account if you beat a team if they were hot or injured.Didn’t the committee say they don’t really use the NET ranking? Houston had zero quad 1 wins. That’s why they were a 5.
