Houston is a very strong candidate for the title. They are so tough.

That game (and the game earlier this year) confirmed that Illinois was as good as Arizona. And that Houston was better than both. And that Houston was significantly under-seeded and of course put in Illinois' bracket as the 5 to our 4. SMH.

Ope, no love just between Mathurin and Moore. Moore chirped at him as time expired and Mathurin made a hard pivot to come back.
Thought that was gonna be ugly.
The matchup with Nova will be really interesting but Houston has also played against two teams with seriously banged up point guards. Horses for courses.

I viewed Arizona as the best team we played all year closely followed by Purdue. Houston beat Arizona hands down. No way should they had been a 5 seed. You dont beat 1 and 4 seed by double digits and control the game like they do as a 5 seed
It literally made no sense. Their net ranking was 3.... they won their conference and the tournament. If the ncaa wanted us to have a tough bracket then just give us a lower seed.

It’s all about my bracket (and ruining on people’s brackets in my pool), so tonight I’m rooting for:

Gonzaga
Texas Tech
Arizona
Michigan

And tomorrow I’ll be rooting for;

UCLA
St Peter’s
Kansas
Miami (game actually won’t impact my pool, but I like Laranaga)
Given tonight's events, I think I might have figured out why we have underperformed in the last two tournaments. Could you perhaps start rooting for someone other than the Illini?

Didn’t the committee say they don’t really use the NET ranking? Houston had zero quad 1 wins. That’s why they were a 5.

Yeah, they use the NET to rank the quality of your wins and losses, so your opponents' NET matters more than your own. Houston did end up with one Quad 1 win, but still a bad Quad 1 record (1-4). They did also go 10-1 in Quad 2, with no Quad 3 or 4 losses. Based on the Quad 2 record I do think they could have been seeded higher. I also think it's probably time for the selection committee to add efficiency based ratings into the equation (not as the whole equation, but certainly as a part of it).

Using a zone against an average to poor 3-point shooting team (I believe somewhere in the neighborhood of 35%) that apparently doesn’t see much zone defense really aided Duke. Obviously, Coach K isn’t a Big Ten caliber coach.

We're evidently the NCAA canary in the coalmine.

You guys and your defense of Gonzaga is getting old man. I don't care how many wins they have in the tournament. They don't hang banners and give out trophies for that. WIN A TITLE!! Do something besides having everyone pick you to do something every tournament and flame out. Sick of hearing how great of a program you have and you have nothing to show for besides collecting a bunch of wins a weak conference, get a high seed in the tournament and come up small.
Lol. What's up with the "you"? YOU have no idea what you are talking about. Have some respect. I am a UofI grad. And a fan. Probably before you were born. Crawl back under your rock.

It’s the problem with non power 5 conferences. If you miss your opportunity in the non conference you are not going to get it later on. My biggest issue with quad 1 wins is it doesn’t take into account if you beat a team if they were hot or injured.

For example our RU win earlier in the season was before they figured things out. But our win at the end of the season against Iowa Was one of our best

There is no easy solution but I think when you look at the computer systems it was clear Houston was good but didn’t have the resume to prove it

I disliked AZ as much as some of our B1G rivals ( scUM, Idiots and loosiers ).............................AZ had an aura about them that made it easy for me to dislike .....

Players acted like entitled juveniles on an unchaperoned class trip with anything goes mentality ........Glad they got bounced , but rest assured , I do NOT want
Cellphone Scamscum to win a natty .....................ever...................
