3/5 Games

I don't like being vindictive in sports and rooting for teams to lose, as opposed to rooting for a preferred team to win, but....

What happens when you invite Satan to lead your basketball team... Phallic symbols given to the first 5,000 fans.
“WHAT UP!!!

We are three cool guys looking for other cool guys who want to hang out in our party mansion. Nothing sexual. Dudes in good shape encouraged. If you are fat, you should be able to find humor in the little things. Again, nothing sexual.”

I did enjoy the outcome. Then I remembered that when 2 of the dirtiest programs of all time play each other it's hard to be happy with any outcome.

I placed a live bet for Duke to cover 1.5 points towards the end. I figured there would be no way the refs would let Duke lose. Not even mad I lost a couple bucks. 😂

Villanova and Providence ranking

Villanova defeated Butler today, giving them a 16-4 conference record, which is +0.5 GB to Providence (14-3). What's more, Nova defeated Friars in both face-to-face games. But Providence still won the regular season Big East title.
Almost the same scenario as we and Michigan were in last season. Big East are making the same decision as BIG did last year. Unfair for the Wildcats.

Just a reminder: Coach K's last home non-con loss will forever be against Illinois.
And the Illini are the only nonconference team with multiple wins at Cameron Indoor Arena (2020 and 1995), where Duke has compiled a 312-11 record against nonconference foes. The largest margin of defeat for the Blue Devils was Dec, 2020 at the hands of the Illini (15 points - tied with Louisville from Jan 1983), and the 2nd largest margin of defeat was again at the hands of the Illini in Dec, 1995 (10 points).

Just taking the opportunity to say, I would love to play any BIG EAST team. If you look at Auburns schedule and ranking, it is based on SEC play. Ditto UK. Duke played one ranked team this season. Same thing with the big 12, win at home against ranked teams, lose on the road. It will be about matchups this year.

The Big East had that strange COVID forfeit policy earlier in the season that they thankfully rescinded. If a team couldn't field enough players due to COVID, the game was cancelled and counted as a loss for that team. It was designed as a negative reinforcing tool to get more players vaccinated. But with the Omicron variant being recognized, they came to their senses and rescinded those losses retroactively. However, they have not been able to reschedule all of the games, apparently.

Check out the Houston Baptist / McNeese State Box score. KenPom rates it the highest excitement score of the season. 8 players fouled out, 110 Free Throws attempted. And there was a potential game winning shot get negated by a Technical Foul from a bench player running onto the court. Just crazy stuff.
