If AM. want's to be The Man. D1 schools are filled with top talent. Drop down to a Mid Major, Bradley, ISU. Hersey Hawkins didn't do to bad in the NBA. Or go back to the Illini and let a very good coaching staff improve your game!!!

To be fair, guys like Lillard did well at small schools

I struggle to believe AM going to UK would be what's best for his development. If it happens, that will seem unfortunate. There are other places to go where it would at least make sense to me. UK isn't one of them.

For me, Kentucky is the only place that it logically makes sense for Adam to go if his only ambition is the NBA. Its the one place that is ran completely different than Illinois. Calipari is only about putting guys into the league. He doesn't care about team success. DeAaron Fox flat out said that in a podcast recently. Most KY fans HATE this about Calipari. You read any KY board, most want him fired. They want a coach that is all about Kentucky first, like Underwood is all about Illinois first. If I'm Calipari, I say to Adam "I've coached tweener guards into the NBA. De'Aaron Fox, Malik Monk, Devin Booker, Immauel Quickley. If you want to play in the NBA, there's no better place to come than here. You'll play against top notch players in practice, and we'll have NBA scouts at our practices. There's nobody in college more connected to the NBA than me. My sole goal for your career is to get you drafted"

And again, I'm not going to slight Adam Miller if his primary ambition is the NBA. If he doesn't care about being a legend at Illinois, or team success, or the intangible things that Illinois offers in graduating/future networking/etc, but whose sole focus is the NBA - then Kentucky would be the right school for him. I look at Kentucky like a trade school for basketball. If all you want out of your college career is just a stopover till the NBA, then go there. If you want the complete college experience, to be beloved forever by a connected fanbase, then come to Illinois. Each person values things differently.

You should explain this all to Kahlil Whitney next time you see him.

I'm not sorry I could not disagree with this whole thing any more. There are few schools that will bring in more talented scorers/shooters, regularly, than Kentucky.

He didn't like sharing the limelight with a jr. Ayo and freshman Curbelo but he's going to love competing with a bunch of 5* talent also looking to "get theirs"

He won't even make it a year there.

If Cal was bringing in 5 stars and he was having to compete with guys like Tyler Herro, Devin Booker, Malik Monk, you'd have a point. But he isn't. They were 9-16 this year for a reason. Their roster stinks, and he needs productive college players to fill huge roles. Kentucky isn't in on any 5 star guards for next year, so Adam Miller is the best they can hope for.

I don't understand how you don't think Adam Miller is good enough for a 9-16 Kentucky team, when he started every game for a top 5 Illinois team. You must not think Adam Miller is that good. I think he is. I think he's KY level good for sure. He'll play just as many minutes at Kentucky as he would anywhere else. Big difference between Miller and Khalil Whitney. Miller is a proven college player at this point. Khalil Whitney never produced. Every coach has recruits that don't work out, but nobody can argue with the amount of guys Cal has put into the league. Its a selling point for players.

The same reason Oscar Tshbiewe (who is a very good player) transferred to Kentucky from West Virginia, is the same reason Adam Miller. NBA priority. Given that each have been productive college players, I'd expect them to produce at KY too.

Calipari doesn’t care about team success? That might be the most absurd statement I have ever read on this board.

I didn't say it. D'Aaron Fox did.

AZHOHoops

Scottsdale, AZ
Nunn is a scorer. Very low assists - he may be listed as a PG but he’s a pure scorer and hits a lot of threes.

Nunn averages 3 assists a game and shoots the ball a lot. He is far from a PG.

And he’s 6’2”
Nunn was much better Frosh/Soph than AM is/was.....not even close , IMHO

We don't know Adam Miller's motivation. I think we should just back off. Miller sees Kentucky as his best path to the NBA. It might be, it might not. He worked really hard on the court this past season, so I don't think there's anything selfish about him. It just may be a fit issue. Miller's game might not have been a good match for Illinois. He's a capable spot up shooter, but that's not his game. He sees himself in the Ayo role, with the ball in his hands. Like other's have pointed out, that's probably the same thing all the players think at Kentucky. I wished it had worked out, but I wish him well.

So Adam Miller will be part of the new Cal approach....involving less guard and playing time competition for guys like AM?

This is post/article clip referencing Grady (Davison Guard Transfer to Wildcats). "Kentucky gains a much-needed scorer with boatloads of experience and intangibles and Grady gets a chance to make his case to be a professional on college basketball’s biggest stage. One Wildcat to another, an unlikely match years in the making." Probably the same comments you might make on Miller although Grady is more seasoned/developed than AM.

ATS, Sounds like Cal does have a new recruiting strategy this year...transfer sharpshooters. It is interesting that Cal pushed homegrown Justin Powell transfer away to Tennessee...because he definitely was a sharp shooter Freshman for Auburn.
