If it were February or March I'd say we beat those guys. Too bad it's only November.

Terrible mid first half. I think this will for sure be will riley's only year at illinois but he will move on to an 82 game schedule. I also think this will be Tre White's only year at illinois but he will remain at a collegiate level schedule.

I just think we still get into too many lulls of 1 on 1 basketball coupled with too many mental mistakes on the defensive side of the ball whether it be missed rotations or just get beat due to poor effort.

I'm not sure if the team is just mentally soft (i.e. free throws and opposing runs) or if they haven't myelinated as high major basketball players due to inexperience.

That Alabama team will go far. They are much more athletic than us. Credit to our guys for showing fight in the second half. After the terrible first half I’m surprised it was as close as it was at the end.

Ben Humrichous is a huge problem. When one of your starters has the deficiencies that he showed tonight both athletically and awareness-wise on defense, that isn't a good sign moving forward. I'm not sure that we can afford to carry that much defensive liability around in our lineup unless he demonstrates a 180 degree turnaround...and I'm not confident of this at all since the same deficiencies were evident in his play for Evansville last season. Hoping for either a Brad coaching miracle or for other guys to step up. Not sure who we could put in there at the power forward position outside of Ben...that's a big deficiency of our current roster.

Not sure how to feel after this one. Shoot a little better on free throws and the game looks a whole lot different. Defense helps also

We do have some guys that need to learn to play with more intensity, and we have some major defensive issues. Will needs to play more.

Alabama played far from their best game and controlled throughout. We had moments but felt similar to ole miss. Lots of open 3s the first half and got better in the second to keep it even. Win 1 or 2 against the other big boys and I’ll feel better.

Missed a lot of free throws.

Game was lost in the first 5 minutes. Came out with zero intensity and let a top ten team feel comfortable; not a recipe for success. Not the last learning experience this team will have this season, and a few good moments in the second half. Would like to see many more minutes for DGL and Morez, many fewer for TW and BH.

Making free throws and avoiding the instinct to run toward the basket instead of boxing out on long rebounds could have made a BIG difference in this game. Still, a lot to take away from this. I hope we play them again this season. Reason #1 will likely mean we are in the Sweet 16 or later. Reason #2 is I think Illinois will be right with them by the end of the season.
