The headline makes no sense. Baylor had 3 players (one on each team) but Gonzaga got one on each of the first and second teams... just like we did. So how, exactly, did Gonzaga and Baylor "dominate" the AP All-America teams?

THey are probably saying that those 2 schools combined for a third of the selections, thus had an 'high' share.......they shouldve said illinois, baylor, and gonzaga dominate imho

I suspect they singled them out as they are the two top seeds in the tourney

Congrats to two deserving Illini! Expectations are one thing, but for Ayo to actually come through and perform at such a high level and with elite players like cade and garza, it's just awesome...awesome...sasowli!
And for Kofi...man, the steps and work this guy put into learning the game, improving his athleticism, and hands...finally HANDS!! It's just so great to see an Illini come in raw, develop, and succeed! Second team is no joke and well deserved!
I think you meant... “Amazing!”

Your second point in particular is an excellent one. When has a player such as Kofi, so relatively new to the game, managed to become second team All-American in his sophomore season? Can anyone think of a comparable?
Tim Duncan maybe. Didn't pick up a basketball until he was 14. He was a good player his sophomore season. All-ACC but not All-American until his junior season. In fairness to Duncan, college bball had a deeper pool of talent than they do now because some stayed more than a year or two in college.

Congrats to both. Very few humans have any idea the hard work, focus, mental strength, and sacrifices it takes for those two to progress to the point at which they are recognized.....top ten in all of Div. 1 college basketball.....around 4200 players. We are not talking NBA all-star....but it is a start and a first for the program. Both unique players who work hard to get better, and it has been very enjoyable watching that happen.

Keep disrespecting us, please. Bulletin Board material.

This is indeed awesome. At the risk of sounding like I’m minimizing this (which I’m not), which is considered the “true” POY award? Sporting News? AP? Who awards the Naismith Award-I assume that’s it. I ask because I was shocked to hear that Dee was not an AP 1st Team All American this week (which I assume is the “true” AA team) despite being the SN POY.

One opinion on reddit: "Naismith first and foremost, then AP, Wooden, Oscar Robertson (USBWA), NABC, Sporting News."

I personally have no clue. Never been able to keep track of all of these.
