I never saw the punch bowl.another turd in the punch bowl, ugh
The moral victory is hopefully RJ Melendez will stick aroundSad ending in every regard. Just wish we had some moral victory to look back at.
But can we still claim we stole a 5 star from Kentucky? The main issue today was no PG IMO.
I guess we can’t hold that against them bc we had Skyy but it turns out he wasn’t near a top 40 player or whatever his ranking was.
I mean we’ve seen previous Illini teams lacking a Pg and they didn’t even do as well as this one did. So maybe Brad gets credit for taking a team without a PG to the tourney?
Who would you have taken instead? The lesson I take from this season. Don't bring in players who are role players on other teams and expect them to be the go to guys.
A 9 seed losing to an 8 seed isn't really underachieving.......just sayinBrad the Under”achiever” third year running in the Big Dance.
Upside is that he has got the team there three straight seasons to underachieve.
I really really really hope RJ sticks around. The moral victory is hopefully RJ Melendez will stick around
Same with Mayer. All we heard was talk and they didnt back any of it up. Embarrasing. Can't pin this entire loss on Hawkins, but man it really sticks in my craw how much he talked before this game about turning heads and shocking people in the tournament. And then we played like this.
Nope....they gave us a Trojan horse. But can we still claim we stole a 5 star from Kentucky?
Sure if it makes people feel better. Highest ranked recipient ever or something. I don’t know what to think. I cringed when I heard his tattooed “never happened” on his injured knee. To me that made me more worried about the impact of the injury on him. Maybe that had nothing to do with it.But can we still claim we stole a 5 star from Kentucky?
GoodWe won’t recognize next year’s team
Don't exactly have to be an insider to figure that one out.We won’t recognize next year’s team
I know. It's frustrating to see so many guys that can do so many things. There's no one on the team that I didn't appreciate was talented and can play. No one on the roster that we wondered why they were here. Guys that when they're playing well and making their best plays look amazing and you can picture them in the NBA. Yet here we are, nine seed in the tournament and out in the first round. We've had less talented teams go further, for sure. Hopefully we can keep a strong base of these guys and they gel next year as a team. Add a couple of nice recruits, and a transfer or two that don't need to play hero ball, baby you got yourself a stew!Very good roster of individually talented players. Never became a team.
I still love Cohawk and hope he returns. That game had a little bit of everything wrong with this season:
-Too many 3s.
-Bad first half.
-Mayer trying to do too much.
-Hawk TOs.
-Missing FTs.
But I liked this group of guys more than most for some reason. Hoping not too many of them will enter the portal/graduate...
