Can somebody please go on national television and advocate for justice on Ayo’s behalf??

My God the silence from the B1G on this is deafening.

The precedent was set last year that suspensions would be dished out for flagrant 2s since they are considered unsportsmanlike acts that could hurt other players.

Apparently Illinois players mean less to the B1G. I’m beyond frustrated about this.
We need a twitter campaign. I’m not even joking.

When the refs didn’t address it when he clobbered Kofi they approved the play. Should have called a flagrant then.
The sad part is, if Kofi fell to the floor holding his head, he would have been charged the flagrant foul.

Apparently, Coleman posted on Insta that Ayo was diagnosed with a concussion. Makes sense from what BU has said, but he was clearly trying to keep things under wraps and I am sure he will not be happy that CH let that slip publicly.

That was my thought, but I was surprised he was able to finish the game if he hadnt passed a concussion protocol. I guess I’m not clear how that works. I suppose he could have passed initial and failed later. What is the waiting period for a concussion?

No idea. I just know that I criticized him here after his missed free throws and as I've said in another thread, I feel horrible for doing so. Sorry again, Ayo!

I really hope we're not trying to "keep things under wraps" in regards to concussions

You keep things under wraps to not give away your competitive advantage. Nobody is saying to keep it under wraps within the team bubble and in terms of his treatment.
Exactly. If Michigan doesn't know whether he'll play, they have to game plan for him. If they know he's out, they don't have to waste any time or energy worrying about him.

What if, BU wanted it out ? Michigan prepares for Ayo not playing and he plays. Gave permission for a freshman to leak it. Just a thought

Perhaps....but that's like a Bruce Pearl type move. BU doesn't strike me as that type of coach.

Really hope Ayo gets to play in the tourney , after last years dance being cancelled and him coming back to get the chance to "DANCE' , knowing he wants to help his team try to make a good run at all Titles , Big Ten or the NCAA , the young man is class act and all the sacrifices he did to come back ,,, this team no doubt is stronger tied together then ever.... emotionally and on the court I really think .....They have (his-each others) back .
This team has really been dialed in since Ayo`s injury against Nebraska and Wisconson .

I would love this to be true but it doesn't really add up - even if Ayo has a concussion that doesn't mean he won't be back by Tuesday. So saying he has a concussion doesn't really give an extra info imo

I've probably watched too many fake fight scenes in movies, but that play that hurt Ayo didn't actually look that bad on the contact to me. The motion the Sissy guy took certainly looked violent but I'm susprised after seeing it that it's this bad of an injury.

I agree with this logic, which again makes me question why (especially in the "concussion" era) they would feel the need to be coy about it? I understand gamesmanship, but not as it relates to this specific instance or concussions in general.

I think our AD should speak out about the football helmets and shoulder pads, if true. He should make it an issue, point to Ayo's broken nose, and ask the conference to put an end to the practice.
Word was that Self did the same thing, back in the day.

You need both angles.

This is the one you've probably seen. Might not look that bad.

People keep saying broken nose for Ayo, but at least when initially reported and early on it was being called a “facial injury.” Now I guess a broken nose would qualify as a facial injury, but don’t ever remember just a broken nose being referred to in that way. In one of BU’s pressers he said it was beyond a broken nose, but wouldn’t comment further. Again, a concussion is beyond a broken nose, but would seemingly just be identified directly. That is why from the start I’ve always thought he’d be out at least through Wisky game and very possibly until BTT. I think he has a bone(s) other than the nose that was broken or fractured, or a broken nose that goes well beyond what would typically be described as just a broken nose.

Key thing is to get Ayo healthy so there is no risk of re-injury from a typical basketball bump. Sure hope that happens sooner than later, but he’s got a 2.5 week cushion until Illini will start NCAA tourney.

I’m interested to see who steps against UM if Ayo can’t go. First game it was Adam with a big assist from Grandy and Belo. Against Wisky, it was Belo with an assist from DMW. Maybe Frazier this time? Or possibly Kofi having a huge game?

Caveat: not a doctor, and haven't gone back to watch a replay, but here's my professional opinion (heh):

The play where Ayo got injured did not look like a concussion-inducing type play to me. It looked like a strike to the face, not the brain-rattling type of collisions that cause concussions (primarily in football, but of course in other sports). That said, he surely didn't look like himself on the two free throws that followed. But I doubt someone who just had their nose broken would shoot good free throws.

No idea whether he'll be back, and don't want him back if he's not at or near 100%, but I just don't think it was a concussion.

That’s damn near criminal. It’s crystal clear what the intent was. The ball was long gone and he still finished with an elbow coming down hard to the face. Why would he possibly bring his arms down at that point? I think the answer is obvious.
