Basketball Transfer Thread

If he can get one. My guess is 2 players are gone from last years team. Leaders in the clubhouse to be gone are Thorne and Nunn.

He'll get a transfer, that's almost guaranteed. There are just too many available to not be able to pick up one if they need one. The real unknown is the quality of the transfer that they'll be able to get.

Are people starting to lean towards the idea of Nunn not coming back?

Even though I believe in innocent 'till proven guilty, I don't see Nunn coming back next year.

I really hope I'm wrong, and something absolves him from the charges!

Sort of. With three active cases, the thought is Groce and Wittman must show they are serious about player conduct and if found guilty, a huge statement would be made if Nunn was dismissed from the team.

I don't want to seem like I'm minimizing the others, but Nunn's involvement in anything like this (whether criminally guilty or something less) a mere few days after seeing Jaylon's situation is unforgivably stupid. I just don't get how you don't over rotate the other way.

Some certainly are suggesting it, I think the theory is that he had at least 2 other issues (suspended license, then driving on a suspended license) plus sat out the start of a game for violation of team rules (which may have been the license issue). So there is more going on there. Personally I'm still betting he is back & for what it is worth that is just my read from public comments and fact he is a very good basketball player.

I agree. Doesn't he have a court date this week? Hard to believe he could be gone...never felt he had reached his full potential.

Adam Zagoria says former Dukie Derryck Thornton is down to 4 schools==USC, Kansas, Washington and Miami. He will take OV's to all 4 .

I wonder, what with 700 or more transfers every year lately, how often this happens and is either suspected and ignored or never known?

Yesterday, we reported that Washington State was preventing Valentine Izundu from contacting the basketball program at San Diego State University on the grounds that the Aztecs had "tampered" with Izundu's transfer process, contacting him before the season ended.

I've seen reference to this transfer number, as well as other higher ones, multiple times on this board, but it is not correct. I believe some posters mentioned that with more than 700-800 transfers, the average is more than 2 per school (incoming transfers per Div. I school).

According to an NCAA study, the number is much lower. There were 528 transfers last year from Div I schools, but only 44% of those (about 232) ended up at another Div. I school. The vast majority transfer down to Div II, Div III, NAIA, etc. So, the average is less than 1 incoming transfer per year to Div. I schools.

Those other issues with Nunn in my opinion are stupid and shouldn't count for anything. I hope both Nunn and Tate are back to finish it up.

Only 34% of graduate transfers actually end up completing their graduate degree :tsk:

Not surprising since they're only in school for one more year but still.
