1 left if Verbal commits is updated, but where did they stand with probation & schollies for 2016?

But regardless, how many do we have?

I'd love to know the answer to that one. I am pretty sure it is less than six, as Thorne, Abrams, Black, Tate and Nunn all might be gone. I am less sure if it is more than zero, as they all might be back, too.

Excited to announce that I'll be playing my 5th year for Purdue University!! #BoilerUp

Seems like a good fit if he's somewhat healthy.

So has Michigan in the last two years pretty much shattered the 'No transferring within the conference' rule? I thought that used to be pretty steadfast, but now... not so much.

That rule was changed some time ago, around the time when Uthoff transferred from UW to Iowa.

I see. Always thought it was more of a 'convention' than a rule. Just that is was expected that you'd transfer out of conference. That expectation clearly isn't there anymore.

I believe there used to be a rule that a player lost a year of eligibility by transferring within the Big 10 conference and that was why it didn't happen much.

The rule used to be you couldn't be on scholarship unless you sat out 2 years. So you could transfer and pay your own way (like Jeff George did) or sit 2 seasons. I don't recall anyone actually choosing the 2 year option.

If it is a grad student, doesn't the school have less control?

Sure maybe they are pursuing a degree your school doesn't have, but I don't think anyone really buys that as the principle argument for transferring, so I doubt it impacts the situation much. In the case of Biefeldt/Albrecht, where Michigan gave away there scholarships it is harder to restrict where they land.

They can still restrict it, but schools don't like the publicity from the backlash. Twitter has made the backlash much more severe for coaches that try to put in any restrictions.

Ohio state transfer Mickey Mitchell is headed to UCSB.

The Mickey Mitchell connection to UCSB is that one of his buddies from Texas Titans AAU team, Grant Troutt, is on Santa Barbara team.

Still pretty random. Me and my buddies have been poking fun at that 15' recruiting class for breaking up. What a bust of a class.

For sure... when you "Crean" somebody, you probably shouldn't screw them over a second time and limit where they can go. Most likely they already have to sit out a year (unless they are a grad transfer.)
