My local pool hall back home in AZ carries this so I have a couple every league night. I've not had many Brechenridge beers but I'd give this a solid recommendation!

I've grown to really like a lot of the Whiskey/Scotch/Bourbon barrel brewed ales out there. Rogues' John John Dead Guy and Double Dead Guy ales were the first ones I ever had and still 2 of my faves. Currently have a Holy Moly chilled that I'll be having in the next few days.

I've got one week left here in SoIL and will be making a trip up to Terre Haute to fill the trunk up with several FFF (Three Floyds) to take back home. Which of their beers do those of you who have partaken of FFF recommend? I'll likely just buy a couple of every bomber and 6 pack they have unless someone raves about a particular brew.

that is exactly what I would do. I haven't had a bad beer from there ever. Stop in and have lunch there around 2 pm (weekends) - they have excellent food as well.

As someone already stated, Zombie Dust is my first choice but I'd buy whatever I could based on my budget.

I made the trip today to Terre Haute, it's the closest place to where I'm at to buy FFF with the time I had. Went to 4 different places and no one had Zombie Dust or Gumballhead. I ended up with a case and a half of bombers, Dreadnaught, Alpha Klaus, Blackheart, and several 6 packs of Pride and Joy, Robert the Bruce, and Alpha King. Also picked up some others we don't have in AZ, Goose Island 25th Anniversary Ale and Big John Imperial Stout, Sun King Osirirs and Wee Mac, Southern Tier Iniquity and Unearthly, Shoreline Sun Nug, Cathedral Square Holy Moly, and a B Nektar Zombie Killer Cherry Cysa (a small bottle of wine I thought was beer). Also got a few I've seen before but never had, bombers of Stone Suede Imperial Porter and Smuttynose Gravitation.

Now I'm broke, but happy! Most of this will be drank over Christmas week with family at a desert rental home in Oracle, AZ, some will be given to my daughters to age and/or drink on their own, and hopefully a few of FFF's will make it back home with me to share with a couple of friends who appreciate fine beer! At the moment I'm enjoying one of my long time favorites, a Rogue John John Ale (Dead Guy Ale aged in Dead Guy Whiskey barrels), Cheers!

that is an all-star haul! I got a bunch of the Bourbon County products that were released a few weeks ago. I'll be hitting those hard once I get back on US soil.

This makes me want it now. Where is it brewed? I've never seen it in my local stores but I'll keep my eye out after these rave reviews.

Brewed in Northwest Indiana. Hard to get even at their store. Your best bet would be to take a trip up there on a Saturday, grab some lunch at their pub (they have great food there) and then buy some beers.

I'm aware of the Bourbon County beers but haven't run across any. I'll certainly buy some if I run across them. Might be something I look for when I come back to IL in July. I spent 4 hours online and calling liquor stores all over the West Coast this evening trying to find some Deshchutes The Abyss. I finally found 4 bottles at a store in Washington state that are being shipped out tomorrow. Two will be surprise gifts to my daughters who have been trying to find this brew for the last 3 years with no luck, one will be shared over Christmas, and the last one is going home with me :D Anyone had one of these? I hope it was worth all the trouble and the $25/bomber price tag.

No, I haven't heard of that beer. With the price tag, I'm thinking it's some sort of imperial stout. Post back your review.

I'm enjoying a Revolution Fistmas as we speak. It has a bit of that extra spice business going on, but I don't mind it.

I had Fistmas a couple of months ago and it is really good.

Besides the questionable name, the beer is pretty good.

Another beer that I don't mind lately is the Bronx Pale Ale. It's contract brewed in WI which I find humorous, but is another good/malty pale ale.

My wife and I are discussing altering our drive from NYC to Chicago for the holidays to enable us to add a stop to the brewery.

The beer is just so good.

Hey, if the missus is on board that sounds like a no-brainer to me!

X2!! I'm in the boat business, we refer to the missus as "the Admiral"...after all it's about pleasing the Admiral, not the Captain!

When the Admiral is happy, EVERYBODY'S happy!!!:D:D:D

If in Indy, stop by Sun King Brewery on College St. downtown. The Friday afternoon tastings are legendary. Growler fills for five bucks. Give Osiris (a west coast style pale ale) a try.

Check out Flat 12 Bierworks in downtown Indy as well. Close to Sun King. It's another small, high quality operation. Their Pogue's Run Porter is excellent. The better half likes the Snickerdoodle Blonde.

Just cracked open an Oasis Ale from Tallgrass Brewing Co. I'd had it around staring at me for too long, and it was finally time. Gotta support those Kansas breweries!

This weekend I found a bottle of porter I brewed in 2008. It was the last soldier in a case that got buried under newer brews. It's been in the basement, dark and about 60 degrees year round. Instead of just tossing it, I thought why not? It was still terrific and had no off flavor or aroma. That's probably the oldest beer I've ever consumed. Good beer never dies if you take care of it. Only the crap gets skunky.

AND, this is why mass marketed American Lager/Pilsners have born on dates. Good beer is good beer. You are exactly right.

By the way, on a small side note, I have been brewing for fifteen years. I got a friend who is a business guy, and we are going to create a brewery. He tried my brews and he loves the beer, and we are going to open large scale. Paperwork almost done, financing is started, city council approval has been achieved, now we have to meet with the zoning guy, and have to find the location. So, hope to open in August, 2014, but latest January, 2015!

Good luck! I have been brewing since the early 90's and the guy who taught me became the brewmaster in our local microbrewery. When he opened in the mid 90's he asked if I wanted to be a minor part of the operation and at the time I didn't have the scratch to be part of it. He has since moved on and the last I heard he was the brewmaster of a bigger microbrewery in western Wisconsin that was doing pretty well. Hope to hear about your brews by next fall.

I was in DC for busines and had a couple of beers I had never tried before at a place called Maddy's Tap Room. They were completely different but I enjoyed them both. The first was a Laughing Dog Huckleberry Cream Ale. It had a thick head and light carbonation like English cream ales and the huckelberry flavoring did not overpower the ale. The second was a North Coast Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout. Very heavy, lots of flavor but not a big after taste. I would drink both again.

Update on the North Coast Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout - the North Coast website showed that Schnucks carries their beers. I was in Schnucks this afternoon looking for this beer and the department manager and one of his beer suppliers asked if I was looking for something in particular. I told them and they offered to have a case brought in for me by tomorrow afternoon. Kudos to the Schnucks staff!

Found a Sam Adams Chocolate Bock hiding in the back of my fridge, so I broke it out during the games last night. I don't know if it was from a holiday sampler from this year, or if it had been stuck back there for over a year. But either way, it was better than I had remembered.

I don't know how widely available it is, but there's a craft brewery called Monday Night Brewery here in Atlanta that has a really good bourbon barrel Scotch ale, a good "regular" scotch, and a really tasty ale. I'm pretty much stuck on their stuff for the time being when I get growler refills.
