Kind of disappointed for Miller not to be on Freshman team, but he is developing and getting plenty of minutes. Hope he uses this as fuel just like Ayo uses this as fuel not winning the whole thing, or co player (although in all seriousness, Garza is a great player as much as I hate to say someone from Iowa - though I really don't mind Weiscamp and Garza other than floppy elbows does not really bother me in all seriousness - it's more of the McCaffrey/in general Iowa I have issues with). I'm sure the bigger will be Howard will COY and Illinois not being co-champs although they should.

Interesting that Ayo is the only guard on the first team for both the coaches and the media. Without checking, I would think that is pretty rare

Not sure how we are defining 'consensus', but doesn't the media has Kofi as second team?

Players selected to have their jerseys hung must have achieved any of the following criteria:
1) National Player of the Year
2) Enshrined in the National Basketball Hall of Fame
3) U.S. Olympian
4) Big Ten Player of the Year
5) Consensus First- or Second-Team All-American
6) Illinois All-Century Team Member
7) Individual whose pioneering efforts made a significant impact on Illinois and international basketball

Ayo will get there with First Team All-American.

Does National Player of the Year include any of the Player of the Year awards because there are many different ones?

Yeah, I got confused. I had it correct before, then second-guessed and changed it.

Kofi is second team AP B1G honors.

There's so many of these, it's hard for me to keep them straight.

Really happy about Trent's recognition on the All-Defensive Team. He doesn't have the gaudy stats that usually win you DPOY, but he is undoubtedly one of the premier defenders in the B1G (and possibly in the entire country). Well-deserved!
